Ladies and gentleman,

Please can we stop the personal attacks which are going on in this thread. They are entirely uncalled for and inappropriate. Keep it "polite", please!

Thank you,

So your comment...

"He's simply a liar. Yet he professes his faith and we are told that faith was his motive for the DX Promo scheme but he didn't reveal any of that. He's a 21st Century travelin' preacher and snake oil salesman. Nothing more."

Okay, now I can say directly to you... you aren't telling the truth. You told DixieGal in your conversation with her on the phone:

Quote:
It was a Christian group who were going to buy the Kindles and load them up with Christian literature, such as the Left Behind series, etc. Then sell them for 50% off in order to spread their ministry to digital book bargain hunters, and getting back half of their investment.
So, there you go. Read post #65. She spoke to you. She relayed what YOU told her. What difference does talking to you on the phone make when you claim she misrepresented what you said? I gave her your number. She was an independent party who called and let you tell her your story. Apparently you don't like what she reported.

Then you told us all to go to your website to see 'what you were about' which supports what she said.

The Taggerdash website says it's A COMPANY yet you claim several times here that it's never been a company. You registered on a website claiming to be the chairman of that company. Your spam referred people to a website that presents it as a company. Again, the truth eludes you.

This is my last post in this thread. You've hung yourself, David, but you can't even seem to see it.

I don't understand.... this was NOT what was said to Dixiegal who called from her job and had to whisper when talking to me... she misunderstood and/or misrepresented what I said in our 5min conversation. It's that simple!

By the way, why didn't you call for yourself?

This is my last post in this thread. You've hung yourself, David, but you can't even seem to see it.
Hung myself? Really?

Also, my website that I told you to visit, www.theedenfields.com, that my wife built as a hobby, that supports what "she", Dixiegal, said?

How?

Supports what, that I'm a Christian? Ok; your point?

Show me where it says I was using my Kindle DX Promo as a ministry. I challenge you!

I am not a liar, I had no intention to mislead anyone with my venture, and I would certainly welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone personally who thinks otherwise.

Through this board avaloncourt has made it his/her mission to discredit me without even making the effort to call me to discuss his/her questions and concerns.

Those reading this board can make their own decisions, I'm simply a guy who tried to make something happen for his family with a idea for a business; nothing more, nothing less. If you think differently about me, it's America so you're allowed; but I welcome you to get to know me personally and you will find I wish the best for all.

Avaloncourt, how about that call?

-David

Then why didn't you correct her here, rather than allowing all the readers of this thread to believe you were subsidizing the Kindles with religious propaganda?

Why won't you answer questions IN PUBLIC?

It supports the notion that you are the type of Christian who honestly believes that all good Americans are either Christian, or sad, unfortunate people who are just aching to hear the word of Christ, and it would fix everything wrong in their lives. (Both graduates of Bob Jones Uni? Really? And graduated before they removed the restrictions on inter-racial dating. Your education--and the fact that it's declared proudly--says more about you than you probably would like to reveal to strangers.)

It also claims you had a baby expected last month, which makes me a bit sympathetic; I wonder if part of doing this is because you're a bit stir-crazy from being in a house with a newborn. (Makes people a bit wonky, that does. The first two months with my kids, my brains were mush, and nobody else in the house was much better.)

I don't think you're a liar, except technically. (Calling a business a "company" when it's not formally registered is inaccurate, but it can be an honest mistake in business terminology, rather than a deliberate deception.)

I do think you're trying to deceive people. You weren't willing to be honest about the purpose & methods of your business--not willing to say who was shouldering the rest of the cost of the Kindles ("some authors" is reasonable for vague marketing materials, but not for discerning prospective customers), not willing to answer questions in public.

For example: How will you deal with defective Kindle units? If someone gets a device and it's broken, will she get a refund? Will the authors have their share refunded? How long will it take you to provide a replacement? Will you have a "no returns" policy? (Possibly illegal, esp. if you claim to send "new" merchandise.)

Quote:

And you've walked right into it, by refusing to reply to direct questions in public.

How's this: will you agree to have a phone call recorded, so that it can be shared with the other members of this board?

Quote:

"Support family": Laudable goal.
"Fleece public": Less laudable.

I don't think you were actively trying to scam anyone; I think you were honestly oblivious to serious ebook afficionados, who know the pros, cons, and market value of every e-reading device. I think your business model was incomplete and flawed, and you got defensive when those flaws were pointed out.

Quote:
I welcome you to get to know me personally and you will find I wish the best for all.
That has nothing to do with whether your business plan was a giant scam.

"Scam"= "get people to pay for something they don't want."

The hypothetical Kindle buyers don't want religious propaganda (if you thought they did, you'd've mentioned that in the ads). The authors don't want to be put on people's hate-lists; I've no idea how you convinced them that it'd be a good idea to give their books to people who didn't want them.

I suppose you might've convinced yourself that most people really *would* like these books, and just hadn't been able to find them or afford them. (Bob Jones? Really?) Which means you were setting yourself up for a whole lot of trouble when you got angry reactions from both sides of your business plan.

Oh, if the plan was NOT to include overtly-Christian literature to subsidize the cost of these Kindles, now would be a really good time to say so. (Of course, in order for anyone to believe you, you'll have to say what was going to be used instead.)

It's funny.
If David said "20% discount", his "business" would have raised a lot less suspicion, and he'd have a brand new Ferrari right now....

The idea is good: to make people believe they're smarter than the average consumer and provide a good excuse for the aggressive pricing.
The timing is perfect: you get the money and you're vanished long before the expected delivery date.

I like it.
It's much better than the usual ebay fake shop with a Toll Free Number with a never free line and with the same fake webcam image you see in several other sites.

But he overdid it.
Too bad for him, and good for the to-be-plucked chickens.

I figured it wouldn't change the rant people here were on...

and as for your comment

I was not giving anyone something they didn't want; my site clearly said to get the promo price, works would be included. If consumers didn't want to deal with the "works" they didn't have to take the promo offer; did they?

and I think the admin said to lay off the personal attacks...

i.e.

so let it rest... Now you are telling ME my viewpoint? Interesting.

Again it seems the tone of this thread is to make personal attacks against me and my faith.

If you have a comment about my idea, business model, execution, and/or timing; I'm happy to discuss. I have stated this over and over. At this point, I think nothing new is being discussed other than personal attacks against me.

Attacks against me without knowing me personally only proves my point that the attacks here are baseless and without merit.

No hard feelings Elfwreck.
