Babelfish doesn't seem to know the word "hovercraft." What's wrong with this service? How could they have left out an essential word like that???

Yeah, but Greek has inflections. I do have a reference book on Greek inflections (as well as a paper Greek-English dictionary visible from where I'm sitting right now), but it's been a LONG time since I dealt with inflections, and I've never formally studied Greek. (I learned about inflections while studying Sanskrit, which has even more of them than Greek does.)

There's a Greek student in one of my graduate classes. I'll see her next week. If we haven't come up with something more amusing by then (or forgotten about the matter entirely

) I'll ask her about it.

So I have to 'disappear' for a few hours. The Sig line won't let me add so much info, so when I get back I'll update everyones positions......

I love Raveens "seal".......but we still need "the fish"....

See, there's the difference between Japanese and Chinese. Japanese just uses a phonetic spelling of "hovercraft" (haabakurafuto), but Chinese actually makes a word that means flying something or other (I'm too lazy to go look it up).

What, you didn't all notice that right off?
