My Sage is also now suffering from repeated "dirty bit" issues when connecting to my computer and Calibre. As others have noted, this hasn't been a problem for the last several firmwares. But, with this one, it happens quite often (every other connection?).
Now, after I cleaned the last dirty bit error up, Kobo Utilities gives me this: calibre, version 6.23.0 (win32, embedded-python: True) Failed to backup device database: Failed: Backing up Kobo device database *** in database main *** Main freelist: size is 2776 but should be 2777 Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre\gui2\device.py", line 104, in run File "calibre_plugins.koboutilities.jobs", line 218, in do_device_database_backup Exception: *** in database main *** Main freelist: size is 2776 but should be 2777 |

You could try repairing your database. I use SQLite Expert Personal for those tasks but there are quite a few other SQLite utilities. The chances that the error will be correctable is worth the time.
The dirty bit/database errors are why I now make a practice of restarting my Sage before connecting to my computer. |

With this firmware, I'm pretty sure this is the 2nd such time I've had database issues. The first time, I just deleted my books and re-sideloaded them from Calibre. Repairing the database with that SQLite utility is much easier than re-sideloading. |

I make a habit of returning to home screen before connecting - maybe this explain why I still haven't encountered any issues?

I always return to the home screen before connecting my Elipsa. It doesn't help. The only thing that helps is rebooting the reader before I connect.

I'm using dropbox until next firmware arrives.
Which reminds me... I hope everyone here has made a formal bug report to Kobo? |

Unfortunately, from previous experiences trying to report bugs, Kobo Support will try to push you through the troubleshooting. Which resolves the bug, temporarily.

I'm trying SideloadedMode and it seems to behave a little differently.
Before, when I ejected the reader using calibre, the reader says importing books, goes to the home screen, the books would show up, and book covers would be updated. Now, in SideloadedMode, I eject using calibre, and it says importing, goes to My Books, and the books don't appear. I need to disconnect the cable (or wait a little while, probably more then a minute), and the books show up and the covers update. This makes me a little nervous, although I haven't noticed any problems so far. |

I think a firmware update changed behaviour. Leaving cable connected (charging) or disconnecting after import doesn't seem to make a difference. There seems to be a delay before the books appear on "Unread". There is a second delay on loading thumbnails if a large number of ebooks loaded (maybe over 100). Search or All seems to find the new ebook if I'm in a hurry. I do tend to load in batches from PD and only one book if it's a bought one or updated draft for proofing.
