Because of Amazons use of way too wide margins, left looks awful. It looks like you have a left margin that's too wide. Take a look at the picture on the tablet. It's so bad I would not read whatever that book is.

Looks like they include that in the examples, but most of the examples are justified, and they made sure to show that justification is a reader-controlled option helping to make sure the "page looks just the way you like to read."

On a tablet justified would work well enough without hyphens. But you wouldn't expect justified text on a smartphone would you?

Have you ever seen justified text on a smartphone? It's impossible. It would be quite dreadful. That's why you so rarely see it.

Yes--that has a ragged-right example--to show off what can be done with ET (Enhanced Typesetting). Older devices, as it happens, don't have those overrides.

For dog's years, KDP has had a stricture against enforced alignments.

But as I said--isn't this all moot? Or are we all just arguing here, for the bloody sake of it?

Justified text on a smartphone is very possible. I see it any time I read a book using my phone.

In your professional opinion, do more people prefer justified or left justified eBooks?

Just to be clear, I would prefer justified ebooks if it could be done satisfactorily. As it can't, I prefer unjustified.
