I hope that Kobo will be able to listen to (download) audiobooks in Europe as well, not like a Kindle whose audiobooks cannot be used in the EU.

time will tell on that one. out of the two new Kobo releases and the PW5 it's definitely the PW5 that appeal's to me the most at least it as the shape i want. the downside being the 6.8 screen is too big for my own particular liking/requirements.

best wishes koboy

The new processor on the Sage got me curious. I pulled the trigger on it to see if it helps the reader to get a better experience overall.

I'll compare it to my actual Libra and the new Paperwhite.

Please do, and the Oasis 3 as well, as it seems you have one?

But if 7'' is optimal for you, stick with your Libra.
Yeah, agreed. Thanks for the well-reasoned opinion. I'm even more of the mind to keep what I've got now than when I wrote that, as the initial shock of the announcement of these new models continues to wear off. And as I read more with the Libra H20 during lunch and continued to be perfectly pleased with it.

I think the 7" screen may in fact be optimal. It's 40% more screen area than a 6" (I read that somewhere), which makes a huge improvement. An 8" may start to be unwieldy. Though, with an 8" screen you'd now be edging closer to parity with printed books in terms of words per page at a reasonable font size, to make the page numbers line up more closely and fewer page turns. If the bezels on ereaders could be further reduced a la smartphones, you could get an 8" screen in there without much change to the device's form factor. As long as we could keep it under 200g in weight, or even get it down to maybe 175g somehow.

So, perhaps I'll happily read my Libra H20 for 3-5 years, and see if those refinements have occurred :-D

I wonder what's causing that? I have a (now three year old) Forma and the only time I saw something like that was this weekend, when I went on a seven hour long bus/train and clinic trip. It was down to 50% at the end, but it wasn't at 100% before the trip. (I had to escort someone to and from the clinic, and spent most of my time reading.)

If I had a problem like that I would definitely buy the new Sage.

Some of us might not know what a PW5 is. Edit: just Googled. It was short for Paper White.

I think it is the battery. It does get power cycled every once in a while, and she probobly reads 6-8 hours a day.

I’m just curious if any Elipsa owners can chime in here specifically on the dark mode for them vs dark mode/invert of previous Kobos.

I have both a Forma and a Libra and prefer the Libra. I think the square shape is easier and less tiring to hold in the smaller size. I also have an old h2o2 that was my first ereader. I like the narrow shape more than square, but not so much that I use it anymore.

I will have to disagree with you. The Sage is more ergonomic.

None of this will be a comfort for people who use the Kobo to read PDF's, but e-ink devices in general were never well suited for that task. I hear great things about KoReader in that regard.
Given that the Sage has a quad core 1,8GHz processor and the Carta 1200 screen, I'm interest in how will RMSDK will perform.

I’m very curious to hear how people like the new design. I think moving the buttons closer to the edge will be an improvement

Why? The Libra has better battery, same screen size and no weird band.. (though reportedly, the gradient over the whole screen is more noticeable than the Oasis.).. does your reader have to cost over $300 for consideration?

The Oasis has a better display, a perfect front light, a (way) better processor and snappier interface, and finally better buttons.

It's not just a question of cost, it's a question of having a device that matches someone's criteria / preferences.
