It seems also to me that battery drain is more or less as it was in 5.12.4, where I first noticed it. It goes down noticeably. I started a book and probably read about 150 pages and the charge went down from 90% to 30%. As some books were updated there may have been some backgroud indexing, but still it seems a bit high.

My PW3 battery life is good too. It's the much older one, as I swapped the new one to Wife. 5.12.4

It seems on recent firmwares, somehow Kindles sometimes decide to drain the battery even while plugged in. A forced reboot sorts it out, though.

I bought it for the 7" and the 32Gb, although I dislike the square format. But that is another story. I hope I did not always download the wrong firmware. It was not available OTA and after a week I decided to download it from Amazon. Last edited by brudigia; 05-05-2020 at 07:00 AM. Reason: Some mistakes |

Firmware updates are model-protected and cannot be installed into the wrong device.

Wondering what happened with the more direct access to the dark mode switch: has it arrived at everyone's Kindle PW4/Oasis in the meantime?
I've kept my Oasis3 on stock FW all the time, hoping it'll become jailbreakable some day. However, beginning to lose hope in this regard, so now thinking of deleting the temp.bin.partial thingie and let Amazon have at it. It's become a major annoyance to go through the menu/accessibility hazzle every time I wanna switch darkmode on or off. |
