Monkey, will there be a thread for non-electronic items? I will be in the market for cast iron cookware this year, and would like to know when such things go on sale.

I don't plan on doing one. Someone else is free to do so, but the thread must be located in the Lounge. The opening post lays out where the deals will be found:

Quote:
Off-Topic Deals: I don't mind if you point out deals in non-book related categories, but discussions should take place in the appropriate threads and forums listed below. Remember, the primary focus of this thread is book-related technology.

Where do I look/post for BF deals about:

After doing lots of research on higher-end vs. cheaper cast iron, I went with Lodge brand. That's one of the cheaper ones. And you can find it everywhere. Lodge is made in America, which is a good thing for cast iron. The deal with Lodge though, is that they don't smooth it all that well, and pre-season it and basically do a terrible job of that. But there is some very good cookware hidden under that terrible rough pre-seasoning.

Check out the video below (and several other videos by this same guy) on how to bring your Lodge stuff up to snuff. I did his sanding/re-seasoning trick on mine and now it is the most stick-free cookware I own. Took me several hours total, most of that being the repeated seasoning steps where the cookware is warming in the oven or cooling down afterwards, but it was well worth it.

Newegg Black November Kick-Off Sale!

Quote:
Newegg just announced plans for this year's Black November Pre-Black Friday Kick-Off Sale, which will run from midnight November 1st through November 5th. In its 10th year, this event is Newegg's month-long sale on everything new in consumer tech, including gaming, smart home devices, electronic toys, and so much more.

Newegg devotes the entire month of November each year to delivering great prices on their most sought-after tech products, unlocking new deals throughout the month. They will offer steep discounts on thousands of items across 60+ categories of products. Stating they will be rewarding early-bird shoppers with deals they can't pass up, these prices will undoubtedly be super low since Newegg already has great deals throughout the year.

We just posted the 28-page Office Depot and OfficeMax Countdown to Black Friday ad scan!

Office Depot will have Countdown to Black Friday deals available in-store only beginning the week of October 28th, which will run through November 3rd. Last year, their countdown offers began on October 30th, so we're seeing these deals even earlier for 2018. I went into walmart once looking for a cast iron griddle type pan and looked at the lodge ones they had. I went to pick the one up on top and funny thing was the handle came but the pan didn't. It was apparently broken right where the handle connected to the pan. I sure this was a one time freak thing but needless to say I didn't get one that day and not been able to even make myself consider getting one since.

Sorry I didn't notice this was in the black friday post and its way off topic.
Don't see how to delete it but if one of the moderators wants to remove it that be great as it does not add anything to this topic.

Target 2018 Black Friday Ad Scan Posted!

We just posted the 52-page Target Black Friday Ad Scan!

Target will open its doors for Black Friday at 5PM on Thanksgiving Day and will remain open until 1AM on Friday. Doors will then re-open at 7AM on Friday. Last year, we posted their ad on Nov 6th, so this year it's posted a full week early.

Today only, November 1st, Target has Black Friday Early Access on over 20 doorbuster deals. Check these out today as they're live now! If you're a REDcard holder, Target has 3 Black Friday deals exclusively for you, offering a fuzzy blanket for $18, a flannel sheet set starting at $14, and Kinetic Sand Magic Molding Tower for $9.99. These 3 deals are today only, online only! For everyone else, we like the Fitbit Versa Smartwatch for $149, the Element 55" 4K Smart UHD TV for $199.99, and the 6-qt. Instant Pot Duo PLUS $10 Target gift card for $69.95.

Target guests who shop Black Friday deals will get an additional bonus this year: When they spend $50 in-store or online or scan the wallet feature in the Target app in-stores on November 23rd, guests will receive a coupon for 20% off a future holiday shopping trip. This will be redeemable from November 27th through December 8th. Target will also offer "Weekend Deals" again this season, solid discounts on many items, including holiday gifts and holiday home prep and decor items. These special deals are available in-stores and online beginning November 10th. And, as another bonus for REDcard holders, Target will offer a special perk by making more than 100 Black Friday deals available on Target.com and in the Target app early on Wednesday, November 21st.

It looks like Amazon will offer the Fire TV Stick 4K for $34.99. That is $15.00 off the regular price and will be the first time it has ever been on sale.

We just posted the 64-page Kohl's Black Friday Ad Scan!

Kohl's Black Friday sale will begin online Monday, November 19th at 12:01AM CT and in-store at 5PM on Thursday, November 22nd. Availability of early doorbuster shopping online is hit-or-miss with some historically available when items go live on Monday and a few holdouts not available until Thanksgiving Day. Beginning November 19th and running through November 23rd, you will receive 15% off your purchase by using coupon code "CHEERFUL". You'll receive 20% off almost everything November 1st through November 6th in-store and online with a coupon code "GOSAVE20".

Black Friday and doorbuster shopping will begin at 5PM on Thanksgiving Day until Friday at 1PM. Doorbusters are always hot items at Kohl's, and quantities are usually VERY limited. If these are what you're after, get in line! Just like last year's ad scan and something Kohl's customers have come to depend on year after year during Black Friday is the increase of Kohl's Cash from $10 to $15 for every $50 spent.
