I like the Lightning connector on my iPhone and iPad for the same reason: you can plug it in either way up.

USB-C, Qi wireless charging... Something else, like playing audio books through bluetooth-enabled speakers?
Spoiler:
Do you want an Aura ONE Mark II, at a price of €350?? |

Yes, those adapter tips are great! I keep the USB-C ones handy for my abundance of micro-USB cables (car, bags, wallet).

That's strange, I seem to be affected now by the puzzling battery issue.
I've had the A1 since Sept. 3rd, didn't have a problem until now. Yesterday, I was reading for a while, left the device sleeping, at 51% charge. Barely one hour later, I took it up again, 40%, read for an hour or so, put it down. Same thing an hour later, 30% battery. I went to sleep with battery at 27%, and this morning it was completely drained. I do have the PeriodicalSync line added to the conf file, and the thing is correctly unticked in the UI. That's rather bad news, and I'm mulling returning it. Not so sure it's a software problem, it feels like the battery controller is at fault here. |

I can provide the cherry. Who's got the cake?
I think the battery issues are software related. Jack |

The other thing from what people say, is that the automatic light adjustment sounds like it is using a lot of power. Maybe they are to aggressive in the checking the levels. Looking at the options, there are two automatic settings, one for the brightness and one for the natural light. Is there a difference if only one of these is turned on? I'd have to think the automatic natural light would use less power than the automatic brightness. The natural light one runs based off the time of day, which the Kobo keeps track of anyway. The automatic brightness requires the sensor, which is a new bit of hardware for Kobos and thus a more 'unknown' aspect.

Some of that can be tested. Set the device up somewhere and change the external light level and see what happens. Or turn the auto-sleep off and leave the device somewhere and see what happens over a couple of hours. But, maybe it won't be obvious as the external light conditions are changing in ways that might make the changes on the device hard to see. |

I thought that had been fixed. What firmware are you using?

I've read about half a book on the Aura ONE now (reading the other half in public transport, on the KPW1), which comes down to reading +/- 5 hours without recharging it. I've also tinkered a with the light and font settings (the light being between 10 and 20 percent most of the time), and it has been idle for most of the time, obviously.
It has used 20% of power, or 1/5th of a battery charge. That would come down to a reading time of about 25 hours on one charge. It would mean I can use it in public transport for about two weeks (2x 10 hours) commuting from home to work and back on one charge. I'm fine with that, even though it isn't as long lasting as the KPW1. That is to be expected, as this reader has more LED's (at least two colors, or RGB ones maybe), and has to light up a 69% bigger screen as compared to the KPW1. Wifi and auto-sync are off. I'm running the latest firmware as of this time of writing, with only the Font Freedom patch added. Last edited by Katsunami; 09-17-2016 at 10:25 AM. |
