OK, but the "remove app" choice comes up right where the Ok Google speech box is. There is no way it lets me touch the X to delete the app I'm trying to delete! Can I temporarily turn off that visible OK Google box?
Typing in "Amazon prime music" failed on the second letter, and "Prime Music" failed on the third. The Play store is where I'm supposed to be looking? And I've got it in airplane mode, with no phone account, in case that will make a difference. And this typing on a small screen (iPad) isn't working well, plus it was bedtime a while back. More tomorrow! Thanks for trying to help, y'all. ![]() |

You need to sideload Google Play from apkmirror. The first time it will fail to install and you will get a popup saying it's not allowed click on the settings button on that popup that will take you the a new screen. Find the Unknown sources and press on the toggle switch by it then try again and the app this time will install. This will stop the crashing. You need a micro USB cord like from a Kindle or another cell phone to connect to your PC to drag and drop files. I use ES File Explorer's LAN feature to transfer files wireless. So I'm not much more help than that. Last edited by Blossom; 12-03-2015 at 02:12 AM. |

Hmm, Google Play is working fine for me and I didn't sideload it. It did prompt me to update it before I started downloading apps though.

It force closed when you open it then type 3 letters into search bar. Otherwise it works fine if you go through Google Now.

I like that case, Blossom. For now I just have the blue shell on it. And I've ordered the Mr. Shield screen protectors.
I only wish I had ordered two of these phones. It is a really nice device! |

Ours did crash, but then in updated automatically and has been fine since. Also thanks for the tip on removing the band to install the blue cover. Because yeah. That wasn't obvious!

Guess it really WAS bedtime last night, and far too late to be trying to do things! Thanks! Now I'll go try the disable from inside the settings. Quote:

Google Now is the search bar on the home screen. Just say "Okay Google" then speak the command. Try asking her for the weather. Think of it like Siri. |

Ah. The text said "Ok Google" so I thought that was its name.
And I've never enabled Siri either .... so maybe Google Now will cause me to start using Siri. I've already used Google Now a few times last night, to try to figure out a few things. OH yeah -- one of them was: if I've switched into the GUEST account, how do I get out of it? [Drat, I just got into it again! I can tell, because there are fewer things in the app menu.] I tried putting the phone into lock, with the off button. That doesn't seem to be enough. I wake it up again and there is no PIN login screen, and I'm still in the GUEST shortened app version. Help - I'm stuck in limbo! I asked Google Now, but didn't find the answer. |

It's a must have for phone use. It does everything make calls, send text, find directions, get weather, write notes. It also tells time, set alarms and can do math, spelling, launch apps and other amazing things. It beats Echo hands down.
