If you want to remove something from the home screen, just press and hold for a moment till you see the options Remove and Uninstall. Then drag the icon to either option. Remove will just get it off the screen. I believe the NFL app can't be uninstalled.

And (2) how would I get Amazon's Prime Music app to get here? I tried to search for it in the "Play Store" and it just quits as soon as I reach the third character I type in. Oh, and the Audible app too please.
I don't know why there should be a problem; I found and installed Prime Music with no trouble. Maybe there was just a glitch when you tried.

And after that, how would I connect it to my computer to download mp3s?
Just connect to the computer with a USB cable, at the bottom of the phone--the same port the charger goes in. If you have a Clip Zip or Clip Sport, that USB cable fits.

Yes, me too! I couldn't get the blue cover to fit right. I had no idea that there was a band to remove, since initially I didn't add the SD card. I like it on mine since it helps me differentiate this device from my first gen Moto E phone.

OK, but the "remove app" choice comes up right where the Ok Google speech box is. There is no way it lets me touch the X to delete the app I'm trying to delete! Can I temporarily turn off that visible OK Google box?

Typing in "Amazon prime music" failed on the second letter, and "Prime Music" failed on the third. The Play store is where I'm supposed to be looking? And I've got it in airplane mode, with no phone account, in case that will make a difference.

And this typing on a small screen (iPad) isn't working well, plus it was bedtime a while back. More tomorrow! Thanks for trying to help, y'all.

When I hold on the app, the Google box fades out when the Remove appears.

What do you mean by "failed"? I just tap the search box at the top, the keyboard comes up, and I start typing. No problems getting to the apps.

I am using it the same way you are, airplane mode, no phone.

There's a user manual that may help. I haven't looked at this one yet, but the one for my first generation Moto E was helpful when I couldn't figure out what I was doing.

Ok, I admit, it's because I've only dealt with the iOS operating system before (iPhones). Android is like Greek -- no, Chinese -- to me.

Go to Settings then apps find the app you want to disable then press on it. From the app details screen click disable button but I also like to clear data too afterward.

You need to sideload Google Play from apkmirror. The first time it will fail to install and you will get a popup saying it's not allowed click on the settings button on that popup that will take you the a new screen. Find the Unknown sources and press on the toggle switch by it then try again and the app this time will install. This will stop the crashing.

You need a micro USB cord like from a Kindle or another cell phone to connect to your PC to drag and drop files. I use ES File Explorer's LAN feature to transfer files wireless. So I'm not much more help than that.

Hmm, Google Play is working fine for me and I didn't sideload it. It did prompt me to update it before I started downloading apps though.

It force closed when you open it then type 3 letters into search bar. Otherwise it works fine if you go through Google Now.

I like that case, Blossom. For now I just have the blue shell on it. And I've ordered the Mr. Shield screen protectors.

I only wish I had ordered two of these phones. It is a really nice device!

I didn't sideload either. I think it was one of the apps that updated before I ever went to use it.

Ours did crash, but then in updated automatically and has been fine since. Also thanks for the tip on removing the band to install the blue cover. Because yeah. That wasn't obvious!

Mine didn't update itself. I wonder how I make it do so. Is Google Now another app? (Not a built in one; I don't see it.) Details please, about either forcing the update on "Play Store" or on finding this "Google Now" thingy?

Yeah, but the Google box comes back when I let go to reach for the "X delete this app". Oh wait a minute... brain vaguely remembers maybe you said to DRAG the app to that X. Lemme try that .... Ahhhhh!!! Yes, that works!

Guess it really WAS bedtime last night, and far too late to be trying to do things! Thanks!

Now I'll go try the disable from inside the settings.

It's random I've had problems with Google Play on my tablet and had to sideload to fix it earlier this year. You can't force it to update just have to wait and wait.

Google Now is the search bar on the home screen. Just say "Okay Google" then speak the command. Try asking her for the weather. Think of it like Siri.

Ah. The text said "Ok Google" so I thought that was its name.

And I've never enabled Siri either .... so maybe Google Now will cause me to start using Siri. I've already used Google Now a few times last night, to try to figure out a few things.

OH yeah -- one of them was: if I've switched into the GUEST account, how do I get out of it? [Drat, I just got into it again! I can tell, because there are fewer things in the app menu.] I tried putting the phone into lock, with the off button. That doesn't seem to be enough. I wake it up again and there is no PIN login screen, and I'm still in the GUEST shortened app version. Help - I'm stuck in limbo!

I asked Google Now, but didn't find the answer.

It's a must have for phone use. It does everything make calls, send text, find directions, get weather, write notes. It also tells time, set alarms and can do math, spelling, launch apps and other amazing things. It beats Echo hands down.
