Well, maybe you could try the alternative start menus that became popular with Windows 8.
They still work with Windows 10, and some people still don't like the Windows 10 start menu.

Its performance is better than other versions of windows.

I decided to update my Surface Pro 2 to Windows 10. But it looks I broke something as the updater you can download doesn't work anymore :P

Be very careful when updating from other Windows to Windows 10, and too, when updating the Monthly Updates (the ones that changes version build number) because they can generate a lot of problems.

Before do that create Restore Points and have a recover USB/DVD in order to be able to recover your Windows.

You only need to search in internet two days after a new KB release to de public to find a lot of people having serious problems when updating, myself included.

I too have had no problems with 5 different machines. One of them a surface 3.

We are using 3 laptops in our home, 2 Dells and 1 Asus Taichi, all running on Windows 10. We accept all updates from Microsoft, and we are happy with the performance. Win 10 is faster and less buggy than Win 8. I personally appreciate the comeback of start menu.

I am only having problems with one laptop. The upgrade went fine. But the computer will lock up when sitting idle for a while. Have to hold the start button to restart the machine to clear it. Also the volume has reduced quite a bit.

I was thinking about updating my Surface Pro 2 to Windows 10. But I can't. The installer won't even run anymore, I must have demolished something in that GWX thingie...

No, didn't want to spend more energy in it for now. I'll have a long weekend this weekend, I might try that update tool then...

I've had a few roughly similar issues since upgrading my main desktop machine from Win8.1 to Win10 last August. In every case it seems that the machine simply needed another reboot after an overnight update. To date, (note crossed fingers...) all of the little glitches that have appeared seem to auto-magically go away after a full shutdown and restart. The restarts that some updates do, and perhaps some updates should do but don't, aren't always adequate to re-enable everything after an update.
