Agreed and an Audible membership is only $14.95 a month for one credit and the audio book is yours to keep forever. Also check our your Library Overdrive program where you can check out audio books for free up to 21 days.

Blossom - it appears that once you use a credit to listen to a book, you don't have to use another credit if you want to listen to it again later on. So although the audiobook isn't yours to keep, you will continue to have access to it as long as your membership is active.

I agree this change is unfortunate, but I can certainly understand why it may be necessary, given the high price of audiobooks. I just hope they don't have to do something similar with their ebooks, in addition to having already significantly trimmed the selection.

I'll continue to subscribe, as overall I've been happy with my subscription for about two years now.

I'm going to keep my subscription for at least next month, just to see what happens. The reason I decided to subscribe in the first place was because at the time, they had a good audiobook selection. Now a good chunk of the audios that hooked me are gone, and most of the rest are going to require a credit for me to listen to.

I find it interesting that the marker indicating books requiring a credit isn't on most of the audiobooks added this week. I wonder if there will be a window where you could listen to a new release before it requires a credit...or if it's just an oversight on Scribd's part.

I started a thread in the audiobook forum with details about the various rental plans out there. The key thing to remember with these plans is that you do NOT own the audiobooks; you're just renting them. If you terminate your membership, the audiobooks you've listened to stay behind.

How large is their romance section?
TunIn signed with the same supplier as Scribd (Findaway), so the selection is the same.

Scribd Expands Its Audiobook Catalog With Titles from Hachette, Macmillan

Quote:
Never one to give up in the face of adversity, Scribd is growing its audiobook catalog today.

The subscription ebook service says it has just added over ten thousand audiobook titles to its catalog. Scribd had previously carried around 30,000 titles under a contract with Findaway, and now it's adding titles from Hachette, Macmillan, HighBridge Audio, Tantor Audio, and Recorded Books.
