Actually, that's a great idea; most people outside the U.S. are taking a bit of a 'leap in the dark' when they buy a reader and I'm sure more people would buy if they could get one in their hands first. Good plan!

the place to volunteer to show off your own reader, or to beg a kind-hearted MR member to satisfy your e-ink curiosity by showing off theirs. compare notes. sign up, list your city and device in the title, propose a café (or other meeting place), time and date. accost strangers and give them demos. make friends and influence people.

ok, so JSWolf is in charge of organising the Boston meetup. who will organise the Texas meetup ? y'all have to have one, there are so many of you there... i know i know, "texas is big". just choose a city right in the middle, so everyone will travel the same distance.

I need more info on the pics. What is that 2nd to last one "lesch...." and what kind of Sony is that with all the extra buttons? Also, do you get to keep the Cybook, Ms. Zelda?

"lesch" is actually "maquette Les Echos" : it's the paper mockup for the device which is proposed by the newspaper Les Echos, with the subscription. it was made as a design proposition when they were creating the offer.

the sony device is the Librié, which was the precursor to the current sony readers. unfortunately we couldn't play with it, because the battery was dead, but it was interesting to see it.

sadly, i don't get to keep the cybook, but well, you didn't really think i would, did you ? i do have it for a few more days, however ; i'll give it back to pauline this week, when we meet up to take a look at the Orange Read and go device. it was really incredibly nice of bookeen to lend it to me, anyway ! and i certainly did have a great time playing with it !

You could accidentally have a dinner date that whole day. Or you could get amnesia and just forget. Maybe you could bar your door and hire the SHUMS to scare her away.
