With this latest firmware, I notice on my Aura HD that when I go to Reading Settings, the top of the screen displays "Reading settings Page 1 of 2", but I haven't found any way to get to page 2 of the reading settings, if it does in fact exist.

Has anyone else noticed the same font and settings in the same books now look darker and thicker than before with 3.11.0? Or is my older reader starting to die? It's a very noticeable difference for me, I've tried on several books with the same result.

So where do Kobo get ideas for their products, and what do 'typical users' have that we don't?

Yes, I've noticed this too. I've also noticed that upon waking from sleep, ghosting of the sleep screen/cover is much more noticeable than previously. The ghosting goes away after a screen refresh (mine is set to 6 pages), but it never really bothered me before, whereas now it is very noticeable. Is this related to the darker fonts, possibly?

The hyphenation dictionaries that went missing after firmware 3.3.1 are present again, so hyphenation should now work on the H2O. No other changes to hyphenation that I have noticed.

What I am asking is hyphenation now working? Are people noticing this? I'm wondering would I be better off replacing Kobo's hyphenation dictionary with the open office version?

The English hyphenation dictionaries have very conservative settings, only words of at least 10 letters are considered for hyphenation which results in some very large gaps when using full justification. To change the settings you need to edit the hyphenation dictionary and reinstall it manually.

The remaining problems with hyphenation are not really related to the dictionaries, but are caused by faults in the readers. (The epub reader doesn't hyphenate the first line of a paragraph if it has an indent, the kepub reader hyphenates the word in the wrong place if it has trailing punctuation, and both readers incorrectly include trailing punctuation when calculating whether the word is long enough to hyphenate.)

This is just a personal opinion, but when you get the device I would leave the stock hyphenation as-is until you've read a couple of books at your preferred font-size on the 6.8" screen and just see how you feel about it then.

Exactly.

Plus its not that hard to revert if you're not happy. Either do a factory reset or make a custom KoboRoot.tgz that contains the original files.

That is a good point: any problems with hyphenation will be less of an issue on a larger screen or when using a smaller font.

Sliding works perfect but that works good before the update.
Go one page further works, turn back doesn't.
When you hold the reader in the middle you get tired arms, it looks like muscle training,so that is why we let it rest in the palm of the hand, certain the Aura HD is to heavvy for one hand reading if you don't let the reader rest in the palm of the hand... While my friends and I and my GF held it all the same way,it is I think different how you hold it for many persons, in my and my friends way, I entered the menu all the time with the Glo.. it is useless.
If you look back through this forum, a top/bottom split for the paging has been requested for a long time. Personally, because of the way I hold the reader, I don't want to use it. And apparantly you don't either. But, a lot of people do. The pity is that Kobo didn't offer both possibilities for the split.

The longer shining light with the Glo .. when i press the sleep button it displays a totally black screen with almost no light at all, then the cover comes back and is lighted again, and 1 second later it turns out..
I really can't see why this function is there and who has requested it this way.
For a long time I didn't use a cover with my Glo. And I frequently used the switch to put it to sleep. After this, I would always look at the screen to see the reading status. When it was a bit dark, I frequently thought "It would be nice for the light to stay on for a little bit so I could read the status". Apparently, Kobo can read my mind.
Quote:
With the Aura HD it works the same, but the light wents out in two steps... wow.. two new functions that adds really nothing to the reader, but against those two new ones are still the known buglist.. I hope someone of Kobo reads this, fix those known bugs first, why do we still have to use patches just to use the device the way other brands can be used normally, then think of new functions that add something to the reading experience.. the light thing doesn't and for a major part of users the new page turning option for one handed reading doesn't to !
I don't think it would be productive for me to comment on this. Especially as I have no idea of Kobo's plans or method to decide what bugs to fix or features to implement.
