In the days before packaging feedback, when I was still buying a lot of books, almost all that shipped from the Lexington, KY facility arrived damaged - one book in a huge box with no air pillows, several books of different sizes dumped into one box, etc. I got fed up and emailed Jeff Bezos directly (jeff@amazon.com). Emails to this address are personally answered by a high level flunkey. I got a polite response with a promise to investigate, and the packaging did improve.

Now that's odd I got all my books from that place and only had two arrive damage in the 7 years I lived in TN. Now I have not ordered any books yet here in Raleigh. Hubby ordered all his textbooks from Amazon brand new and they arrived safely. The books I did get were always shrinked wrapped though except the two they were in padded envelope and who ever put in it got the cover caught and bent it.

Well, possible good news for NC residence. I just saw on the news that Amazon is building a center in Concord, NC. It's only about 45 minutes from my house. Wonder if that will speed up deliveries for others in NC??

It all depends what they keep stocked there. I know we have a warehouse here in Raleigh but so far only one delivery has come from it. It went straight from UPS to USPS so I got it in about three days.

Well My latest Amazon order is missing! Supposedly delivered on Saturday by the Postal service but it's no where to be found and if they left it in the package box they didn't leave a key to get it. Right now UPS is at the top of my list on preferred carriers.

Sounds like you just order too many things from Amazon. Although I'm a fine one to talk - I have 64 orders in the last six months! To be fair, each of my monthly subscribe and save order items count as one order each and I always have at least five so the number is a bit inflated

Isn't that the truth I use to buy ebooks with my gift cards now I have to use them on house stuff while he looks for work. Prime is something I don't know I do with out. I'd do subscribe and save except they don't have a frequency that works for me.

We found it! Someone turned it in to the office. They thought it was the new fire phone due to the tape amazon now uses. I was like nope it's latex gloves. That got me some looks so I had to explain how chemical sensitive I am and that I use them for cleaning and taking care of cat litter.

Absolutely yes. I've seen a huge change in service level. I don't order that often, but often enough over the last several years to notice.

I live in Toronto, Canada. There is an Amazon.ca centre in Mississauga, an adjoining suburb. In the past, when I would place an order, if I did it early enough, the item would be at my home the next business day. This was with the regular, free shipping. This was always the case. Once they introduced their paid Prime service, all of my orders with free shipping require at least two days, though I have had it take up to four. It certainly seems they have deliberately downgraded service so they can offer a paid "improvement." I hear next they're going to be increasing the chocolate ration.
