I didn't see any cliffhanger in book one. It just ends. All 5 books are one big book so you wont get an ending till the last. It's one big story about the same characters. They all take place in the same time period. There is no jump in time so far that I can see. You have to read them all together to get the ending.

It really is. So different from anything I've read. I'm 30% into this one so far. Everyone here knows I seldom read a series right after another but the author is clever is keeping me hooked and along for the ride. Too many books giveaway too much in the first few books and leave no mystery. This one doesn't too many questions and you have absolutely no idea what's going to happen next. It's great to read something not predictable.

Ok, that is what annoyed me, there wasn't a real ending. One of these days I'll get back to the series.

I know we are use to real endings in books which is why we read romance so it probably threw you when it ended like it did kind of the way Lord of the Rings movies end abruptly. I did go into it knowing it was one big book and to have all books ready because "It's the best urban fantasy series of all times" my friend said to me. I was skeptical but I have to say it's a really good series I am still holding judgement if what she said it true. Too many times I get involved into a UF series only for it to get too dark and depressing for me to continue. So far so good.

I flove the Fever series. I had the first one free and I waited until the 5th one was about to come out before I started. I binged read the 5 books in 2 days on a weekend off. I literally read from morning until late I just could not stop. I too looked at it as one huge book. I was so engrossed into the world created I forgot to eat, drink and pee. . Unbelievable world building. I don't think I have ever been sucked into a book/books like this before.
That author is brilliant in my humble opinion. I'd like to know what her brain looks like to come up with this stuff, or maybe not.

I so wish I could turn back time and experience it all over again for the first time.

Yikes, me too. I read only category romance in the 70s (mostly Harlequin) - I'm glad I "missed out" on the bodyrippers. It's hard enough to think back on my favorite old Harlequins when I realize the heroes were in their 30s and the heroines were often still in their late teens - ick!

I finished the series....and I really wish I hadn't. I loved Moning's later romances - it was actually one of hers that actually made me consider the full-length romance novels (I think it was the Dark Highlander). Her worldbuilding was great, but I was so disappointed with the fact that the Fever series wasn't really a romance, I just never could make myself enjoy it. Then...her ending...gak. Just not my cuppa.

I just finished a menage romance called "Marrying Mari" by Elyse Snow. (Wanted to give that warning, because I know some of you guys don't care for this sort of erotic romance). I don't read much from the independents any more, but I borrowed this from the library when I saw it.

I really liked it. The premise of the story is that two men who have been friends since childhood were raised in a enclave called "the Colony", which had existed in New York since the 1600s. The Colony had strict rules about who its members could marry. The two men were living outside the Colony walls, but with the proviso they would find a Colony woman to marry. (Triad marriages being allowed - but not required - because the original Colony had more men than woman in the early days).

They find Mari, a woman born of a Colony woman and a non-Colony man.

It's a novella length, so it has what I consider a regular problem in romantic novellas - the insta-love factor. But what I liked about this was that while it did have the erotic scenes, it was a real story. The main characters had to deal with pressure from parents and the Colony leadership because of Mari's background. They had to learn to live together. And they had to learn to deal with the differences in their backgrounds - she was raised in Hells Kitchen and they men were descendents of the original Colony leaders and are incredibly wealthy.

It's a Samhain story - and given that it's only 215 pages, I think it's overpriced at $5.50. But if you can find it at your Overdrive library or get it with a good coupon, I would recommend it as a good story with an interesting set up.

New release at $.99 for a limited time :

Cristin Harber - Sweet Girl (Amazon | Kobo)

Quote:
A SWEET GIRL
Nicola Hart grew up under the heels of her older brother and his best friend, Cash Garrison. Years of ignoring the spark between her and Cash didn't keep their attraction from turning into a slow burn. Just shy of her twentieth birthday, Nicola needs to know: he wants her or he doesn't.

HE CAN'T STAY AWAY FROM
She's his best friend's little sister. The definition of hands off. Cash has tried to ignore her for years. Instead, he's looked at every pretty little thing who's crossed his path, all to ignore the girl he seems destined to want. But when half the school is interested in Nicola, it's time to stake a claim and hold the hand of the one he really loves.

Sweet Girl is the novel length prequel to best-selling Garrison's Creed. Before Cash and Nicola can fall in love forever, they have to suffer through their first love.
I like Cristin Harber's Titan series, and Garrison's Creed is probably my favorite book of the series. I'm glad that Cash and Nic are given a prequel.

$.99 Try by Ella Frank

Be warned, this is a M/M book and is technically classified as erotica. I have to say it's one of the steamiest books I've ever read, but IMO it is well-written with a good romance story too, so I would classify it as 'romantica' and I rated it a 4.5. While it did NOT end in a cliffhanger, book 2, Take, comes out tomorrow.

blurb: Try – verb: to make an attempt or effort to do something or in this case…someone.

Sex. Logan Mitchell loves it, and ever since he realized his raw sexual appeal at a young age, he has had no problem using it to his advantage. Men and women alike fall into his bed—after all, Logan is not one to discriminate. He lives by one motto—if something interests you, why not just take a chance and try?

And he wants to try Tate Morrison.

Just coming out of a four-year marriage with an ex-wife from hell, a relationship is the last thing on Tate’s mind. He’s starting fresh and trying to get back on his feet with a new job at an upscale bar in downtown Chicago.

The only problem is, Tate has caught the unwavering and unwelcome attention of Mr. Logan Mitchell – a regular at the bar and a man who always gets what he wants.

Night after night Tate fends off the persistent advances of the undeniably charismatic man, but after an explosive moment in the bar, all bets are off as he finds his body stirring with a different desire than his mind.

As arrogance, stubbornness and sexual tension sizzles between the two, it threatens to change the very course of their lives.

Logan doesn’t do relationships. Tate doesn’t do men. But what would happen if they both just gave in and…tried?

Crista McHugh's The Heart's Game (The Kelly Brothers Book 4)
Quote:
What happens at Comic-Con, stays at Comic-Con…

Robotics engineer Jenny Nguyen has given up on finding Mr. Right. So when her brother and his husband approach her to act as surrogate for their child, she sees it as her only chance to have a child and accepts. One week after she initiates the process, however, she meets a man who gets her heart pumping for all the right reasons and gives into the temptation. When the test turns positive, she’s believes she can’t handle both the pregnancy and dating, but she underestimates how persistent Daniel Kelly can be.

When surgeon and gamer-geek Dan meets a pretty woman dressed as a Sailor Scout at Comic-Con, a roll of his lucky 20-sided die tells him he should take a gamble on her. One night of passion leaves him longing for more, but Jenny’s refusal to return his calls afterward leaves him wondering if the attraction was one-sided. An accidental discovery of her pregnancy has him convinced the baby is his, and he’ll stop at nothing to win her heart.

Aww..! I was sidetracked by work and then lunch break before I got to buy the book. But after my lunch break, the price has bounced back to $3.99 at Kobo. Not sure about Amazon or B&N, but it doesn't matter, as I can't buy from those two sites after all.

Why, oh why?

Sigh, I'll just add the book to my wishlist then.

Free from Harlequin:

Fanning the Flames, a novella by Victoria Dahl.

Quote:
Burning for you

Some men are off-limits. Close friends of your ex-husband, for instance. Or firefighters who work in the same building as you. Yet despite her best judgment, librarian Lauren Foster can't help noticing fire captain Jake Davis whenever he jogs by…shirtless. They've always been friends, but all it takes is one not-so-chance meeting at a local bar and one not-quite-innocent walk home to ignite a fierce, uncontrollable desire between them.

Widower Jake Davis has tried to ignore the spark he feels whenever Lauren's around, but once he sees her curves in a little black dress, there's no turning back. No matter how often she says she's all wrong for him, the sexy, outspoken divorcée is driving him wild in the best possible way. Maybe she's just blowing off steam. Or maybe he can convince her to fan these flames into something deeper, hotter and truer than they ever expected….
