Blossom - no fair! I can't believe that even after the incredible haul of books I got this weekend (156 total) with the fab 90% Kobo code that I am even entertaining getting more. This is insane and more importantly I am because I am going to click on this link and look for more. LOL!

Midnight Rainbow [Feb 1986] SIM#129
Diamond Bay [Feb 1987] SIM#177 [one of my all-time favorites by her]
Heartbreaker [Aug 1987] SIM#201
White Lies [May 1988] SSE#452

Duncan’s Bride [Sept 1990] SIM#349 [one of my all-time favorites by her]
Loving Evangeline [Dec 1994] SIM#607 [the hero here is the step-brother of the heroine in Duncan’s Bride He’s a total jerk hero, but I liked the book when I read it. The movie adaptation is very bad ]

Novellas: (hit-or-miss, but these are the ones I kept in print)
“Bluebird Winter” [Nov 1987]
“The Way Home” To Mother with Love [May 1991]
“Overload” Silhouette Summer Sizzlers 1993 [June 1993]
“Lake of Dreams” Everlasting Love [May 1995]
“White Out” Upon a Midnight Clear [Nov 1997]

Mackenzie’s: (this series was hit-or-miss when published and not as good as I remembered when I reread them)
Mackenzie’s Mountain [Apr 1989] SIM#281
Mackenzie’s Mission [Sept 1992] SIM#445
Mackenzie’s Pleasure 3b [Feb 1996] SIM#691
“Mackenzie’s Magic” Christmas Kisses [Nov 1996]
A Game of Chance [Aug 2000] SIM#1021

Single Titles: (not sure how well these will have stood the test of time, but these are the ones I liked enough to keep.)
Dream Man [June 1995]
After the Night [Dec 1995]
Shades of Twilight [July 1996]
Son of the Morning [Mar 1997]
Now You See Her [Oct 1998]
Mr. Perfect [Aug 2000]
Open Season [Aug 2001]
Dying to Please [May 2002]
Cover of Night [June 2006]

CIA: (I didn’t keep all books in this series)
Kill and Tell [Jan 1998]
All the Queen’s Men [Sept 1999]

I previously owned everything she'd written (as I said she was a an autobuy author for many years). But I ended up getting rid of about 2/3rds of my books due to lack of space when I moved. I'll admit a few of her books I kept purely for nostalgia reasons.

What? No Blair Mallory?

I just bought a few this past weekend with the kobo code replacing my paper copies of a few of my favorites that I didn't already have in digital.

Open Season
Mr. Perfect
Dying to Please
Blair Mallory 1 & 2

Other faves are

Cry No More
Son of the Morning
Dream Man

She was just awesome during the late 90s early 2000s.

Nope. I know I am in the monority, but the Blair Mallory books were just okay to me.

Agreed But some of her late 80s stuff is probably my fave.

I think that's why it took me nearly a decade to stop buying/reading her. She's written some great books.

I own the Sabin series in paperback I may have to read them if they are that good.
Thanks to you and apesmom for the list. I now know what books of hers to stay away from. I liked Cry No More I thought the writing was strong and I had no clue how different Death Angel would be.

What is wrong with me? Why am I still looking for bargains? Why? What is possibly left to buy after scraping the bottom of the barrel with a 90% code?

I need to ban myself from this thread for a few weeks.

Well I finished it. Death Angel should have been titled: How not to steal two million Dollars. I gotta say this one book that should have never been published. The first half is pretty good and then the paranormal is brought in and it just goes really bizarre and a little creepy then really boring. The author had to been on something when she wrote the second half of the story. If I hadn't enjoyed the first half it would have gotten 1 stars so 2 stars barely.

Please let me know if any of her other books are this strange. I'll stay far away from it.

Hachette Deal

Trouble in Texas (Deep in the Heart of Texas #4) by Katie Lane - $1.99
Kindle | Kobo | Nook | Google [Book #1 was on sale for $0.99 back in July so you may have it]

Quote:
THERE'S A FOX IN THE HENHOUSE

Inheriting the most notorious house of ill repute in Texas can spell trouble for a girl's reputation . . . especially when she's Elizabeth Murphy, Bramble's prim and proper librarian. Yet when she discovers a buck-naked cowboy handcuffed to a four-poster bed, she forgets all about the town gossips. Elizabeth has sworn off men, but the stranger's kisses melt her resolve faster than ice cream on a hot summer day.

Waking up in Miss Hattie's Henhouse isn't how Brant Cates reckoned on getting to the bottom of his great-granddaddy's murder. The plan was to solve the centuries-old crime, then get the heck out of Dodge. But after meeting Elizabeth and discovering that the buttoned-up beauty is a sexy siren in disguise, he just can't pull himself away.
Now Brant needs Elizabeth to finally put his past to rest, but is she willing to risk her future on Bramble's newest bad boy?

It's only her more recent books that are strange like that, oftentimes seeming like manuals on how to survive in the wilderness, etc. Many of her backlist are excellent. I just "re-read" Open Season and Midnight Rainbow on audio and enjoyed both.

Why I wonder? Which book did she start this how to writing with? I wonder why she stuck with it..

Oh Blu! You might know about this but I picked up Rock It by Jennifer Chance ($2.99) yesterday. It's a rockstar book put out by Loveswept and was just released. I saw it on Facebook.

It started with Up Close and Dangerous in 2007, but I was becoming discontented with her writing a few years prior to that.

I read that she had a health condition she felt was affecting her writing... After lots of googling here's a link to a Dear Author post about it. I can't seem to find the original post on Facebook, but I'm not on Facebook. Maybe since you are you will have more luck.

Oh this explains sooo much! Found a thread talking about it here How sad I have heard some surgeries and medication affect how the brain works. Perhaps it's time for her to write non fiction or just retire.
