I'd be tempted if I didn't already have quite a few Angry Robot books (basically those that I've been actively interested in).

It's an interesting offer - on the one hand, for anyone who feels Angry Robot books fit their taste, it's a very good offer, but on the other hand, to know that, one already has to have bought/read enough of their books and that makes the offer slightly less attractive.

They had sort of a limited version of this deal during the holidays, when several authors opted into a backlist sale at 1GBP/book. I picked up a few books I was missing, of course...

Generally speaking, Angry Robot has good taste. They sell DRM-free*, quality ebooks in the speculative fiction arena, which is exactly what I like.

* Some of their resellers, such as Kobo, do inexplicably apply DRM. If you want to be sure, buy directly from them at Robot Trading Company.

All of the books in this collection that are the second in a series offer the first book in the series for free at Amazon US:

It looks like most of the books in this collection are $0.99 or more individually, so if you like the first in the series of any of the four listed above for free, buying the collection would be the same or less than buying the next book.

Thanks, I missed that. I read the first book of Season of the Harvest when it first came out, liked it but not so much that I had to rush out to buy the second, so getting it and a bunch of other books was a no-brainer for me. Now that I have all those other seconds, I might as well get all the firsts, too...just what I need, more books!

If I had the money I'd be all over the Angry Robot deal. They put out books that really can't be pigeonholed and are a nice break if the sci fi/fantasy/etc one is a fan of is starting to run together and feel samey.

Amazon dropped the price on this from yesterday's $83.22 to $58.25, so it's sort of a deal. Right now, the other stores have it at $83.22 or thereabouts.

I'm sorely tempted by the Angry Robot deal-- a lot of intriguing titles-- but I don't think I can justify the per-book cost in terms of the number I'll actually get around to reading. I was interested enough to create an account on their site and put the bundle in my shopping cart, though, which is how I noticed that the £100.00 figure includes VAT. Which means that buyers in the US and other non-VAT countries will actually pay £83.37. Not a huge difference, but maybe enough to nudge someone who was on the fence.

The angry robot store offers precious little or no information about the ebooks, except summaries and blurbs. The least it could do is to offer sample excerpts, and book lengths.

I can't like a ebook company like this. You have to judge a book completely by its cover. It's just as bad as the kobo store.

The books are also available from Amazon, if you want to look at samples etc and if you decide to spurge, go back to Angry Robot for the price promotion.

They've been in business for several years; it's not like they're some bunch of nobodies who just popped up with a big bag of mystery content. As for "precious little information" - summary blurbs are what most publishing houses use to promote their books. Why should Angry Robot be different? Are you under the (very mistaken) impression that they're a place like Smashwords that's an umbrella for automated self-publishing, or a fly-by-night indie bookstore?

No, the least they could do would be to simply keep chugging along as they have been: producing and selling high-quality, DRM-free books at reasonable prices. Instead, they chose to offer a hundred customers a whopping good deal on the occasion of the publication of their hundredth book. If you don't want to take advantage of it, that's up to you, but there's no need to insult them for having a sale!

Oh, sure. Except for the excellent service and total lack of DRM, they might as well be twins...

Well said! I have had a subscription with this company for 2 years and the customer service is excellent as are the books and if I didn't have the books already I would have jumped at this offer.

I may wind up kicking myself for it later, but I went ahead and bought the bundle. Yes, I already have several of the books - but nowhere near a majority, and I had one of the newly-published books that just made it into the bundle on my wish list.

Just came across Weightless Books, which seems to be an ebook store for several small presses (found it via Small Beer Press).

Anyway, they have Sofia Samatar's A Stranger in Olondria on sale today for $2.99 instead of $9.95.

Looks pretty interesting. Just picked it up, it's DRM-free.

This is on my list of books to read but I am afraid to spend the money on all 10 at once without knowing if I will like it. This, above all other series, seems to be one that people love or just stop after book 1-2....

I guess $5.80 per book isn't bad but that original price of $83 seems a little nuts.
