Mine is 4G. My iPad 4 typically has loads of battery life left after long-haul flights to Europe after reading, listening to music and watching videos for many hours so I expect battery life on the Mini should be enough for me.

I remember the days when my iPod couldn't last a whole flight!

I think my iPod touches never lasted more than 3 or 4 hours on a charge. Apple never got them to do better. My iPad 3 would go a whole day, but I never actually timed it to see how many hours. My Mini hasn't been mine long enough to test yet! BTW, airports in the USA seem to have charging stations scattered about.

I got the iPad Mini 2 WiFi version because my T-Mobile iPhone 5 can be used as a WiFi hot spot.

I've spent quite a few hours reading on my Mini over the past couple of days and can report that it is the best indoor reading device I've ever tried. I really like the larger 7.9" screen in 4:3 ratio compared to the Nexus (and most small Android tablets) with 7" screen in 16:10 ratio. Plus the Kindle for iOS app is lightyears further advanced than the Kindle for Android app. Reading on my iPad 3 was great except it was too big and heavy to comfortably hold while reclined in a chair. The Mini is just the right size and fairly light weight, even in the Apple Smart Case.
