![]() ![]() ![]() Tried it first though and it was a surprisingly tight fit (good thing) thought i'd got a dud until i found the sleepcover option in settings and turned it on. yikes. Quite a small cover as well, not much excess material around the actual reader which i liked. All in all i'm happy, bar the strange (over)pricing. £25! I will put up some pics on the 25th |

Hi
I bought an Aura two days ago. No covers available in Australia yet. I bought this one from ebay yesterday for $US9.90 (with free postage): Here is the ebay link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221333040...84.m1497.l2649 Here are the features: Features: color:Black,Blue,Brown,Green,Purple,Red - This case have AUTO sleep function (smart Cover), - Open >turn on , Close > Turn Off - The lightest and thinnest protective cover for 6 Inch kobo aura(non HD)EREADER - Wake or put your device to sleep by opening or closing the cover - Secures your device without straps covering the front - Magnetic clasp ensures cover is securely closed - PU leather exterior protects with style - Unique Design - Weight: 0.11 KG Apparently this product is unique so everyone else who bought a cover that looks like one has bought an expensive imitation of this, the original aura sleep cover. Joking aside, this one looks perfect and is very cheap, although it does weigh 110 grams which will bump the weight of my aura from 170gs to a massive 280gs. The seller sent an email the next day advising the product had shipped and advised the shipping time would be 11-22 days. I will let you know if the cover is worth buying. In the meantime I made a sleep cover from an old PRST-1 cover: You will note the cover is too big so I had to sew some elastic to the top restraining band. I figured out the placement of the magnet by moving a fridge magnet over the reading surface until the aura went to sleep: So far I have had a Sony PRST-1 and PRST-2 and I would say the aura is a fantastic upgrade over both these products. One of my favorites is the inbuilt pocket app which allows one to save web pages to your computer and download them to your aura over wi-fi. Although now I realise that, having gone off topic with my pocket comment, I do not have a snappy ending for this post. Live long and prosper. Stephen Last edited by user38; 12-24-2013 at 09:03 AM. |

Coincidentally, a few minutes after posting the previous post touting a third party Aura cover, Kobo sent an email to me encouraging me to buy an official cover for $US49.95. I wonder if Kobe is monitoring this forum. If so I encourage everyone to buy several Kobo Auras.
Back to the covers. It's not so bad that Kobo is changing 5 times as much as for their cover as the Chinese version. I figure the Kobo engineers developed the concept of bending around the reader a piece of faux leather with an embedded magnet. Research and development costs money and needs to be recouped. But Kobo also wants to charge me $US19.95 for postage. That is an infinite increase over the $0 postage which is what I was charged by the ebay seller. With the current crappy exchange rate between Australia and the US (thank you Mr Obama for fixing the US economy (sarcastic emoticon)) the official cover would cost me $AU78. That would be 41% of $AU188, which is what I paid for the reader alone. I don't mind paying $188 for a product that seems to be magic technology to a person born in 1961, but I do object to paying $78 for something that looks like it could have been made by a monk in a Benedictine scriptorium. I have attached a few picture of the official cover: Does it seem the official cover is larger than the reader? Can anyone who has an official cover confirm this? Anyway, I am glad I opted for the unique Chinese cover. I found the official cover on line before I thought to search ebay and, but for the excessive postage, I would have bought it. So, while I concede that the cover as originally designed is fit for its intended purpose, I cannot vouch for the quality of my own modifications to the cover. Stephen |

![]() In seriousness though I am taking a punt on one these as I am hoping for an improvement on the official cover. I have the official sleep cover and it is not as easy to hold and read one handed, mostly though with the case fitted the aura loses a lot of it's size advantage vs. the Kindle PW, it is still not as tall but is actually thicker than the PW with the case on which is a shame. |

I just got my sleepcover from Kobo. The one problem I was having with my Aura was with the flush screen and getting a lot of accidental page turns from my thumb sliding over. My thumb now rests on the side tabs very comfortably and no more unwanted page turns. The cover was a little stiff to bend back at first but it's already starting to loosen up. I'm quite happy with it.

Yes the official cover is slightly larger than the Aura. I like that as it protects the edges of the device.

Grey version of the official sleepccover, quite nice. I wish i'd got the aqua one though tbh. It does protrude a tiny bit but i'm grateful for the extra protection.
May be now the units are a bit cheaper (whsmiths uk) the covers will come down in price? [Images deleted -MODERATOR] very dusty in the living room apparently! Last edited by Dr. Drib; 01-01-2014 at 09:19 AM. |

I was a bit gutted the Aura price dropped yesterday tbh as I only got mine in November I keep hoping the HD price will drop. |

I got the official cover included when I bought my Aura (Japan) and for a free cover I'm quite happy with it. I generally don't usually use a cover for my ereaders partly because I think it's crazy to pay $40 for something that only cost $120 in the first place. I do like that it protects the reader and I love how it just automatically turns the reader on and off when I open and close the cover but it turns my small reader which fits easily into my jacket pocket into a reader that fits into my pocket but is much more of a tight squeeze. Also, I lose that wonderful textured back when I use a cover. I think I'm going to spend some time without it and see if I like that better. And yes if you have the official cover then you can't fold it back behind the reader. That seems like a bit of an oversight. But overall I think it's fine.

I have for one of these and it works really well. I have had neoprene pouch for my kobo but i was getting a sore hand from holding reader. Being able to hold it wirh front cover folded back between fingers solved this for me. Sleep function works.

I'm guessing it is but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt...
