There are people I know that simply don't want a tablet and that's fine, everyone has their choices and preferences, whether they want a tablet or not, so we shouldn't be the ones to judge anyone. For me if I do get my Nexus 7 I can read books or lecture slides for university (taking notes too instead of bringing my laptop which can get heavy to carry around sometimes), among other things, so it would be quite useful to me if I had the tablet.

Not at all, thats like saying laptops or PCs are useless, cos thats basically what a tablet is! I use a smartphone and it can do pretty much all that my laptop can, sometimes faster, and a tablet is the next stage up.
Plus you can use them as book readers!

I dont agree with you OP. I read books on my tablet, read/correct PDFs for university, check/send emails, write my reports, do my research and so on. I own kindle3 and lenovo 10 inch thinkpad tablet, and the amount of time between them varies.
I use kindle for fiction most of the time, and tablet for university reads.
I dont watch movies on my tablet, I use desktop for that.
This particular tablet has real stylus so I often catch notes on it too. And a keyboard attachment so it functions as a notepad.

Okay, so I have a question for the OP........

After reading the many well thought out, logical reasons for having a tablet.....what say you?

Do you still feel they are a 'waste of time'?

Has your mind been changed at all?

Curious minds want to know.....
