For many onscreen keyboards, pressing "space" tells the system to replace the correctly-spelled word that you just typed with a "more popular" incorrect word.

I went through quite a few debian browsers. of the ones that ran with minimal messing around I found skipstone to be an excellent peer. Nice one.

and comparatively very responsive. a credit to your port.

Oh God. When I saw these color screenshots, my heart stopped for a second in shock because at first glance I've believed that they were made on [imaginary] Kindle Color.

I also tried Woosh (screenshot), which is fast and simple, in Xephyr window.
By the the way Debian Gnash browser plugin works no better then my build

yeah, it really still would be nice to have an option for the native browser to support it but meh. Fun to play with.

OT: I did get vlc player running very nicely - with surprisingly great eink management, would have to port it to get the sound going I would imagine

playing with games right now. finding out what runs decently before wasting effort on a port. Happy fun.

twobob just had to re-paint the e-ink spheres to do that.
Too trivial a modification to be worth a post.

yeah. good call. I managed to get KDE to make some noises, without any massage of the underlying kindle sound daemon. So it is possible.

Really struggling to get Xephyr to switch to a 800x600 mode though.

tried https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...0&postcount=27 which is $SETPROP com.lab126.winmgr orientationLock $1 but it's just reset to U far as I can tell, or ignored.

I am guessing I need to invoke the underlying server in the alternate 800x600x0 (or whatever the exact name is, I will check) but I'm not sure. certain I could test more games positively if I can get this going. Thoughts gratefully accepted

Did you try setting O argument in window title?
O defaults to U and, as far as I understand, it declares possible orientations of the window.
Try setting "L:A_N:application_ID:xephyr_O:R" (or O:URL for multiple possible orientations) title before running /usr/bin/lipc-set-prop com.lab126.winmgr orientationLock R.

I installed SkipStone 0.6 successfully but
i try to patch to 1.0.1.

My question is where i have to do the skipstone-0.6.patch file and how are the introductions to patch it then?

Paperwhite has no sound, so I haven't thought about that, but it should be easy to fix - user should belong to audio group.

EDIT: Hmm . not sure yet. Root definitely still gets some "preferences". or seems to. I'll try to document it.
