It was, no doubt, a lot of work for zero return. Not that Pinky used any affiliate tags, but B&N doesn't give affiliates any return for ebooks (and then charges the affiliate if a referred customer uses a coupon code -- they often stole my return from iTunes, as they use the same company to administer their affiliate program, so I stopped doing any affiliate referrals for them).

Anyway, Pinky had asked for volunteers to help and I suspect didn't find any.
Okay, I would have offered except I am off campig 8 months of the year and only get on the I-net sporadicly.

Welcome! I saw it on Facebook and thought someone might be interested seeing I missed it yesterday. I've got a few of them in paperback but picked up the ebooks as well for that price.

I just finished Viper's Kiss by Shannon Curtis and WOW It was really good! If you love fast pace action romance then you got to read this one. Guarding Jess which is book two in the series was on sale last month so I grabbed it then went back with coupon and grabbed Viper's Kiss.

I've been reading Jane Graves' DeMarco series and was totally disappointed by it. I mean the covers show couples in hot rods which isn't even in the book and the blurb on back make you think you're getting a fast pace romance suspense but you're not. I can't recommend that series. Waste of money for me.

So out of the blue I started reading Viper's Kiss and it was like "Yes! This is what I've been looking for!" I think this is the first Carina Press book I've bought that gets 5 stars from me. I plan to read Guarding Jess next and then wait for the next book. I usually don't start a series till it's completed or near complete but sometimes reading at random can be a good thing.

A Knight's Temptation US DE by Catherine Kean, a medieval romance first published by Medallion in 2009.

Quote:
When Lady Leona Ransley sets eyes upon the handsome, arrogant warrior who enters the back room of the tavern, she recognizes him: Aldwin Treynarde, the earl’s son who almost caused her death in a childhood game twelve years ago—and the only man who has ever kissed her. Shocked, she fights her stirred up emotions, determined to hand him the ruby pendant in exchange for the reward offered by Lord Geoffrey de Lanceau, and then vanish.

Aldwin is intrigued by the husky-voiced beauty. He believes she is a courtesan who not only has the valuable pendant stolen from de Lanceau, but has information on the whereabouts of his lordship’s enemies, Veronique Desjardin and Baron Sedgewick, who are conspiring against him. She is a prize he cannot let slip through his grasp, for the knowledge she has could save many lives—and she might be his way to earn what he wants most: knighthood.

He takes Leona hostage and spirits her away, intending to deliver her and the pendant to de Lanceau. She, however, fights him at every chance. He desires his captive more than any noble woman he’s ever met, and when he discovers who she really is, he knows he has one last chance to protect his lady’s life. Only by resolving what happened between them years ago and by fighting side by side can Aldwin and Leona defeat the conspirators and surrender to their greatest temptation—love.

I didn't see anyone post about this, and I just found out myself. Maragaret Moore romances on sale for .99. I got several from Amazon just now.

It’s a 99¢ Sale!

Just searching Margaret Moore in Amazon did not bring up the entire list of .99 books. But clicking on the titles at the avon website brought me to the ones I wanted. Other stores are listed as having them too, like B&N.

Well, if anyone was holding off on the Terry Spear book in the DANL 99 cent summer sale because it tried to eat a free book credit, having been a previous feature title, the DANL people fixed that so that now it just charges the regular sale price.

I went and bought all of the 99 cent titles on the grounds that they worked out to 50 cents after membership discount and the discover15 discount coupon for DRM-free multiformat and even if the setting didn't look interesting and/or plots didn't look cracktastic enough to appeal to my no-romo preferences (it takes a lot of extra stuff to get me interested in a regular category romance), most of the other authors had had freebie books at one point and I don't mind throwing half a buck at them pour encourager les autres freebie/deep-discount offers/sales from DANL and in general, even if one of them (My Unfair Lady) had already been offered as a Sony freebie previously.

I figure I've spent more money to worse effect on the campus cafeteria's overpriced salad bar (they charge per 100g, but have no notion of taring the container so its weight isn't included, and they use china plates ). I did skip the $1.19 ones on the grounds that I already had the interesting one from a 99 cent Kobo sale and while I'm willing to pay an extra 50 cents in a support the author/publisher move which gets me extra DRM-free formats, $1 is more than I'd spend on a re-buy, much less also invest in a reluctant cowboy stripper romance (mind you, I'm kind of morbidly curious now, but not more than 59 cents worth of morbidly curious).

This incidentally is the last day for the DANL $0.99-$1.99 sale, so if you haven't already gotten everything you wanted, well, you probably still have 5 shopping hours left.

Other publisher-direct romance offers that will also be expiring over the next week: Carina's 99 cent introductory specials for June, and Samhain's extra 30% off coupon on their featured monthly reads. There's a retro Harlequin Silhouette reprint romance in the latter which you can get for half-price through Monday.

I own this book. It's the one with all the missing words. I say if they fixed the problems by editing it then it's a cute modern western. As of now it's very frustrating to read. Her second book Dylan does not have these issues as of chapter 4 I am stuck on.

Return to Me US DE, a shapeshifter romance by Lilly Cain, who has published SF romances with Carina Press.

Quote:
Anna Scott lives along on the coast of New England, enjoying the solitude that comes with Five Island Cove. Except she isn’t always alone. Every year, as the weather warms, the seals return and so does her lover, a man who makes her as wild as an ocean storm, a man with magic in his soul.

Cael is a selkie, an ocean-born shapeshifter. Unlike his brothers he has never forgotten his lover when he returned to the swells of the deep ocean. Every summer two lovers reunite, fighting the odds that the ocean will take away Cael’s memory of being with Anna, and disobeying the unwritten law of his people to never reveal the truth of their lives under the waves.

This summer, as they near the time to part again, Cael and Anna face a new threat, a tangible one as hunters arrive in Five Island Cove. Can their love last through even more secrets and danger?

Normally I wouldn't post a self-pub in this thread, but I do think the "Look Inside" looks pretty good...

Sheriff in her Stocking by Cheryl Gorman (Free, Amazon US, 114 pages)

Sheriff in her Stocking

On her way to a new job in New York city, beautiful, plus-sized Anglo Delaney Moore finds herself stranded in a snowstorm at Christmas time in the small town of Avery, Montana, where she meets the town's sexy, hot-blooded Hispanic sheriff. Since she plans to only stay until the storm clears, she sees no harm in indulging in a little naughty fun.

Rick Mateo Cruz grew up on the poor side of the tracks in Chicago, but he’s made a good life as the sheriff of a small town. He loves his culture, his family, and a woman who isn’t afraid to give up control. Rick finds Delaney’s voluptuous figure irresistible, but her whiter-than-white upbringing gives him pause.

Her willingness to submit to his desire for domination brings them closer together emotionally than either could have ever imagined. They’ll have to find that same fiery combination between their cultural differences for Delaney to get a sheriff in her stocking.

I wasn't making fun of you just to be clear...it's just that it seems to be an Internet rule that when anyone criticizes something in a review, that very error finds its way into the posting...happens to me all the time too! <-- totally imperfect sentence I am sure

It's okay I understand.

The problem is that the book has suppose to been professionally edited and believe me when I say it's a mess. Words like The and And are missing and the character actions are hardly describe in some places. One minute they are laying down then the next they are against the wall. How did that happened? That's just one example.

What really irked me was the restaurant scene. They go in and sit down, ordered drinks then talk to waitress who is the owner and it's never mention they eat or drink. They then get up and leave after a conversation between themselves. I don't even think it mentioned them paying. It's really hard to follow. It like the scenes mash in together. Some chapters are okay and you start to get into the book only to reach a place where it happens again and you're left scratching your head. It's almost like they published the rough draft by mistake but they did do a spell check for it.

Those are all amateurish pacing errors. Very frustrating to read. I see them sometimes in self-published stuff even if the grammar and spelling has been cleaned up.

Is this _Tyler_ by the way? From the description it sounded like it would be either very good or completely horrible, with no in-between.
