Again, it is irrelevant whether people like or love it; you can't alter the fact that the antenna design was a fiasco.

Obviously not. They're Apple, dude. Apple. Its not enough that they make good, even great sometimes, products (if overpriced), they're just ferpect... (and I don't mean all Apple users, but some)

I have an android tab. Love it but...is it perfect? Hell no. Will I buy another Android tablet someday? Most likely, yes. Does it have to be an Asus? No. Would I consider an iPad? Yes, if the price is right. The only loyalty I have is to my wallet.

If you restrict the question to 'Apple lovers', then the answer is probably yes.

I'm not an Apple lover, and while I don't know the details, as I've never been interested in the iPhone, from everything I've read it was a design screwup. A mistake.

Yes they do, just like everyone else.
It is the fanboy mentality, something must either be 100% right or 100% wrong, the middle ground it too confusing, it means they don't know who too cheer for.
Just as 'Apple lovers' see Apple as always right, 'Apple haters' see it as always wrong.
Reality is never that simple.

Edit: ChangeWave, the people who conducted the iPad heat survey whose results I posted, had previously done an iPhone annenna survey.
The results were that 7% found it to be a Very Big Problem, 14% Somewhat of a Problem, 14% Not Much of a Problem and 64% Not a Problem/Haven't Experienced Any Problem.
So yes, it was real, and users did complain, but it wasn't crippling, and everybody didn't complain. Middle ground.

If you're going to insist on being rational and logical, we're going to have to kick you out of this discussion.

I have been on both sides of this debate. I have, for years, been gently "anti-Apple". I don't care for their closed garden mentality and unwillingness to move towards the mainstream (Flash, memory expansion, etc.). And the people who believe that Apple can do no wrong, and swallow every word from Cupertino hook, line and sinker, drive me absolutely bat@#$% crazy.

However, the people on the other side drive me equally crazy. Anyone who refuses to consider Apple as a viable solution for any situation, and cannot allow that they make products that actually work darn well for some people are just as blind as the Apple fanboys.

I own a Windows 7 tablet. The battery life sucks, and the OS is clunky and laggy. But Windows 7 wasn't designed to be a mobile OS. I recently installed the Windows 8 consumer preview on the tablet, and it is like night and day. It's much faster and smoother (although the battery life still sucks ), so I have high hopes for future Windows tablets.

I also own an Android tablet. It is a darn good product. Does it do everything I want? No.

And, although I am somewhat anti-Apple, I have owned four different iPods, and my current phone is an iPhone 4. And I am really hoping that my significant other is buying me a new iPad for my birthday next week.

Before my current iPhone, I had an Android phone. I was happy with the OS, but the battery life was absolutely terrible; with the GPS and wifi turned off, it would be dead by mid afternoon. So I switched to the iPhone, and I am very happy with it. Did it change my life? No. Does it sometimes lock up and lag, just like every other electronic device I have ever owned? Yes.

What is the problem with admitting that different devices are more or less appropriate for different people? Why does our particular device have to be the best device? Isn't it enough to be satisfied with our own choices; do we have to convince other people that we are right? Is this the same tendency that makes people knock on my door and want to tell me about Jesus? I'm sure he's a really nice guy (even if he can't hit a curveball), but I'm happy with my lack of diety, thank you very much; you can keep yours.

Uh, oh; I've strayed afield...

I tend to agree that philosophically Apple is not my sort of company. When I was younger I felt much more strongly about that.
OTOH the new iPad is simply the best tablet on the market for what I want to do. It may not be the best for others, but it is for me.
So I bought it. I'm not buying the company, I'm buying the device.

I'd gone at least 10 years without any God salesmen calling, then had Jevohah's Witnesses and Mormons in the same day! I guess they didn't think the no-cold-calling signs applied to what they were selling.

I would much rather buy the company than the devices Apple makes, if I could afford it...

And those Mormons, they haunt people at traffic lights near my home. They wait until the lights turn red and then they jump on people while they can't get away.

A device can be <the best device> without being <the best device for me>. To me for example the iPad doesn't qualify as <the best device> because it doesn't have a microSD slot. If someone is saying that that doesn't shouldn't be a factor they are essentially saying that I'm making bad decisions.

There was somebody saying how the iPad is better because it is easier to use, and then said that the fact that it doesn't run flash doesn't matter because you can get around it, ignoring the fact that the second invalidates the first argument.
