found kindle
Quote:
I found a kindle and contacted amazon and this was their response to me.... I'm happy you contacted us about the Kindle device that you found. I'm sorry, but for security reasons, we're unable to provide the owner's information to you. When the original owners of lost Kindle devices contact us, we mark the devices as lost in our system, so the devices will be unusable by the finder. Please turn the Kindle in to an appropriate lost and found, or turn it in to the local authorities. If you'd prefer, you can also send the device to be recycled by our certified recycler, Eco International. You can create and print your own prepaid UPS shipping label through Eco International's website. Visit ecotakeback.com/kindle for further instructions. Thank you for taking the time to contact Amazon.com. If you need more help or have some questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us again. You can also give us a call anytime at: U.S. and Canada: 1-866-321-8851 International: 1-206-266-0927 You can also visit our website and select Contact Us from any Help page, click on the "Phone" button, enter your number, and we'll call you right back. Contacting us through the website allows you to verify security before a call is placed and ensures we have your account information ready when we call you. I hope this helps. |

Looks cut and dried, they do not mess with lost ones anymore. They automatically on notification blacklist it. And in their minds it is only worthy as trash to be recycled.. And the owner is just out of luck!

Hmm.. so my new personal policy...
1. If I lose my kindle I will just deregister it and not report it. Finder's keepers losers weepers. 2. If my kindle is stolen I will report it and have it blacklisted. Fool me once same on me, fool me twice, shame on you. BOb |

Ah but how do you know if you lost it or it was stolen? You are at the airport. You think you put your Kindle in your bag but it is not there when you get home. You know you had it on the plane. You think you put it in your carry on getting off the plane or did you leave it in the seat pocket? Did someone lift it out of your bag when you were picking up your luggage?
The reality it that it is pretty easy for things to be stolen from most of our bags. If my Kindle goes missing it is reported to Amazon. My Kindle has been named with my name and phone number. Anyone who finds it should have the decency to call me and let me know that they found it. If they didn't, then they will have a device that is not fully functional. |
