I remember buying comics for 10¢, and they had around 40 pages. In those 40 pages, you would generally see three or four stories plus a two page short story with no graphics, and usually a one or two page humorous strip.

I read all the way to the back cover and scratched my head. Some sort of advert for a breakfast cereal. Cherrios. Forty years later, you can buy that crap in Australia now.

I remember when the power rangers were mighty.

I remember one day my mother woke me. From the look on her face I already knew what she was about to say: My grandfather had just passed away.

I did after a fashion. My paternal grandmother had a party line in the 1970's and I would often visit with her for a week or so in the summers. I had to be about 4-5 yrs old and I got hold of the phone. I guess a local busybody was on the line at the time and I joined the conversation. lol. I guess she kept on asking "Who is this?" and I kept on saying "it's me." or some such. My grandmother caught me at it and not long after I had my own toy phone. lol.

I remember making my mom nervous every morning that I'd be late for school because I couldn't leave until I'd seen that day's "Tom Terrific" episode on Captain Kangaroo.

I remember Famous Monsters of Filmland and Forrest J. Ackerman.

I remember segregation, and the word we used to describe the sections of town where people whose skin color locked them out of decent paying jobs lived in run-down shacks.

I remember going to a minstrel show held in a local high school school and seeing white men in blackface telling jokes. I remember my mother becoming offended over hearing the joke about "Why is the Statue of Liberty unhappy?" "Because she's been holding up her hand for all those years, and no one's let her go to the bathroom yet." She felt it was too naughty to be told at a show where impressionable young people were in attendance.

I remember how when school books became too old and worn to be of any more use to white students, they were given to the "colored" schools to use.
