I'm in Italy. Bought it through Swindon Books Hong Kong: http://www.swindonbooks.com It took 4 (four!) days to reach Italy, customs check included! About €125 each (plus damn VAT customs tax...) and something like €25 for shipping (for two KT together).

Both businesses have pushed (tens of) thousands of Kindles in just over a month. And then what of the Kobo? Collins' website has no information at all regarding the fact that they're even planning to sell the Kobo Wifi, let alone the Touch. Borders took down their 'coming soon' banner for the Kobo Touch a month ago. And as for A&R? Their site doesn't even mention the KT. Kobo actually had the Australian market for almost a year. They were selling the only decent e-reader at a reasonable price in brick and mortar stores. And now, at best, they're merely rapidly losing the market. Does Kobo no longer want Australian money? Same with Dick Smith. No stock expected in DS stores till around mid-next week. And even though they're another fifty dollars, the 3G ones are still selling really, really well.

(I put this message on another thread, but thought it could also fit in here.)
I put in an enquiry on the Collins website and have just received this reply: "You are correct in that we will be selling Kobo products including the Touch model. We are just in the final stages of negotiations and planning with Kobo. There have been some delays however and we are still talking with Kobo over pricing and other agreements. This will mean that the launch will now happen sometime in the middle of October. And I do not have pricing figures availale to release just yet. I have placed you on our Kobo enquiry list, meaning that when new (and more specific) information becomes available to us we’ll pass this on to you." Sounds as if it's going to cost more, doesn't it? I'm okay as I got mine from Borders in the US (when the exchange rate was better our way) but now my husband wants one too. |
