Check out this book "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking". I have gone through many "bread phases" from the very low maintenance bread machine to making sourdough bread from starter which is pretty high maintenance.

I LOVE this book and the bread comes out really nice. It looks like a similar no knead method as in the NYTimes article. Basically you combine the ingredients (no kneading), do one short rise to get it going, then put the dough in the fridge until you are ready to bake....pulling off a small ball as needed.

I forgot one gadget. I use it even more than my breadmaker.

My Salter Electronic Scales

So long as you keep them dry, they're excellent. This one has a nice clear display, well out from under the bowl on the scale pan.

That is nice, I read the free sample chapter from Amazon. How could I resist the temptation?
Thanks. Karma is on your way.

Great Thread !

1. Braun Multiquick. As the kids were babies, we cooked everything for them, they never had processed baby food, so we had the Multiquick everywhere (here, in Germany, at my moms in France, everywhere). It is just brilliant! Now we make tapenade with it almost everyday. Entre autres.
2. Classic Kitchen Aid with the ice cream maker, in white. Not using it a lot, but it makes crazy ice cream.
3. A WMF Purée Fork. To make real mashed potatoes, with little piece of potatoes left in it .

I am lusting for a Nespresso, but we have a perfectly working DeLonghi Coffee Automat, so there is no point in getting a Nespresso machine.
I like them though, they look cute...

They are so cute.

Not a lot with Amazon, but at least now I have a brand name. And I found the site. And there are way too many cute things there!

I have Breville scales that look very similar (but different), making me wonder if Salter is their source. The Breville's are pretty good too.

Cheers,
