I avoid ebook readers with 3G (or any cellular service) although I have a feeling that eventually that won't be an option.

I like to have wi-fi connectivity, but I would prefer to be without 3G (currently my cell phone is my *only* 3G/4G device and I am planning to keep it that way.)

Why does 3G bother you? It's not like you have to pay for it. I think it's nice to have so you can download a new book anywhere. :-)

I considered a skin when I had a Kindle 1, but couldn't find anything in plain black. Everything I came across was too colorful/busy and distracting. Also, I'm hesitant to put one on because I don't want film left behind when I remove it. I've heard that isn't the case, but I'm scared to chance because I tend to sell my stuff.

You do pay for it -- the cost of a device with the 3G hardware is more expensive than one without. I'm positive that I am not going to use it and I have no concerns about resale value, so I'd rather not spend the extra money upfront for it.

DecalGirl has skins that aren't as colorful and they don't leave a film. I also sell my gadgets when upgrading, and the skins seem to help with keeping them new- looking.

I don't understand the fear so many people have of credit cards. In the modern world, this is how transactions are done.

But credit cards bear your data (and your money) and the security surrounding them is only as strong as the passwords and sites you're attaching them to.

+1 here. $6 ebay silicone skin in black on my nook wifi. My wife has a pink silicone skin for her Kobo wifi - a little more expensive, cause they are a little less common.

I'm not sure what you're responding to, but I have a strong dislike of companies storing my credit information for long periods of time.

In relevant news, Husband discovered yesterday 4 charges on his statement that he hadn't made. Totaled about $200, and it's going to be a HUGE hassle to fix. The credit company was pretty cool about it, but his account has to be permanently closed (meaning he can't access his past statements online for record keeping down the road), they're issuing a brand new number (when he had the old one memorized), and he's got to scramble to change over anything that was automatically charging to the card (phone bill, water bill, etc.) before he gets hit with a fee for them charging to a non-active card. Fun!

So, yeah, companies do not need to store my credit information longer than the bare minimum necessary.

Hi,

New member here. Based on experience with Franklin eBookman 911, Palm Zire 71, and now the Kobo/Sharper Image "Literati" -- I'm thinkin' if it requires me to remain near an electrical outlet I should refrain from the buy. Of these three, actually, the 911 with replaceable AA batteries was the best of the bunch....

They have many lovely dark ones now. I've changed skins a few times now and never had any residue/film left behind.

The eye rolling was rude.

CC companies have plenty of protections in place. They generally do not hold you responsible for fraudulent charges. A year ago when I bought a new laptop and charged it. they called me to make sure it was actually me who had made the large charge. There's really no need to be paranoid.

Thank you. I took my head out of the sand and found a few that capture my interest. Residue doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Things have come a long way since my Kindle 1 days.

Skin-it allows you to upload your own artwork and make custom designs.

I hate the epub implementation on my Mini (stupd "pagenumbers' on the saide of the screen). And the mobipocket implementation isn't very good either. So, I must reformat all my books so I can transform them into PDF. So, my MIni takes PDF, my Sony Epub and my JE100 Mobipocket.

And about the time it takes, that's why there are TBR lists, so I can finish my book and get the next book ready to read
