borisb, or anyone...any thoughts on this reply I got in an email from christianbook.com:

Here's what I sent to them: "I have recently purchased an enTourage Pocket Edge. One side is a tablet and the other side is an ereader. I have been able to access and place my Barnes & Noble ebooks on the ereader using Nook for Android. However, I haven't been able to access https://cbdreader.christianbook.com on my Pocket Edge to access my CBD ebooks. When I get to the link from the browser on the tablet, I get a blank white page at cbdreader. Can you give me any suggestions or steps that will help me to be able to use CBD as an ebook source?"

Their reply: "Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Please accept our apologies for the trouble you are having accessing the CBD Reader. If all you are seeing is a blank page, it is likely that you do not have JavaScript or cookies enabled in your web browser. Be sure that both of
these are enabled and refresh the page."

Like I said, I am not tech savvy so I work best with step by step instructions. What are your ideas? TIA

I tried the link above and it presented a green login page same as in a desktop browser.

To enable JavaScript and cookies, with your browser open press the "Menu" button, "More", and "Settings". Ensure there's a green checkmark beside "Enable JavaScript" and "Accept Cookies". Then press the "Back" button, "Menu" button, "Refresh". (If it still doesn't work, hit the "Home" icon in the top left corner of the browser, and then try the link again.)

You should try again to access the page, since there is a browser bug-sometimes you'll just get a blank page. Try finger scrolling up and down the page a few times, and the page should show up.

Why would anyone buy the pocket edge, when enTourage still needs to fix and update the Edge.

borisb, I followed your prompts and yes, "Enable JavaScript" had a green checkmark and so did "Accept Cookies". Went back, tried again. The link is still giving me a white, blank page.

emen, the page doesn't give me the option to scroll up and down the page. Only back and forth at the bottom, and that's very limited.

Any other ideas? TIA

Hmmm. I got the same white page when trying to access Hotmail while trying to help out another user. There doesn't seem to be a reliable fix (although for Hotmail I did find that the Opera browser app doesn't seem to have the problem while the Dolphin browser had the same problem as the native browser.)

Given that christianbooks.com provides books in Adobe Digital Editions format, I would use a PC to purchase and download the ebook. You can then transfer the ebook to your eDGe using an SD card, or a USB memory stick. Alternatively, you can download and install the Opera browser app for Android and use it instead.

It seems that many (unsatisfied) customers are leaving feedback on the HSN site since HSN is still selling an accessory pack for the PE. As we've heard, much of the negativity seems to be out of a lack of knowledge about the product's features. I hope at least some of the people find this forum and are able to ask questions/get help.

The average rating is 2.5 stars out of 5 (http://www.hsn.com/black-entourage-t...910*background).

There are only about 85 reviews (17 pages of about 5 per page), and they're either 1-2 stars or 4-5 stars. This indicates customers either absolutely loved it, or absolutely disliked it. This in turn very much reflects how historically customers of the full-sized eDGe tend to like it while professional reviewers tend not to understand the eDGe.

Also, perhaps most significantly, it means that there are only approximately 40 negative reviews out of some 13,000 buyers (if the number of sales is to be believed), and just as many positive reviews.

While it's always shocking when somebody doesn't like what you have to offer or you yourself really like, I'd say the HSN event isn't nearly as bad as it was sounding

(NOTE the accessories reviews average 3 stars for another 50 reviews, again highligh polarized, but now slightly more towards the good).

Ugh... I hadn't found the actual PE site on HSN... just the one for accessories. I just wanted to point it out for those of us who were interested/shocked by the negative reviews in earlier forum posts (eg, http://www.entourageedge.com/forums/...ll=1#post11078) so we could learn a bit more about why people were feeling the way they did. I apologize for not directing everyone to the correct site :/

Boris, I think your analysis was very insightful and helpful to put everything in perspective. As always, thank you for taking so much time to help all of us out.

Don'tpanic, thanks for the confirmation in numbers. This, too, is something that was the subject of much discussion on the Forum.

I actually went to the HSN site and read through all the negative reviews. I wanted to find out what the complaints were about. The majority were ridiculous, although some were legitimate.

A previous poster covered the complaints pretty accurately: non-replaceable battery, which meant the item would be dead an useless in 4 years; the ereader side wasn't lit; one said it wasn't as easy to navigate as the iPad or Kindle (well duh!). It's too complicated was a frequent complaint. Many complaints were from people having problems setting it up (imo, this is not a ridiculous complaint btw). My favorites were from people who said there were other items available that did similar things (Coby ereader was mentioned twice in this regard).

So it seems people were either having problems setting up the device and having problems getting through to support or completely clueless about what they were purchasing.

Tom

Can you give us a ballpark number of how many full size eDGes have been sold?

borisb, replied to christianbook.com again that necessary items were enabled and got this reply: "We're not sure why you have encountered this problem. We have tested the file and found that there may be a problem with it. We have forwarded all the information to our Technical Department and will contact you as soon as we hear back from them." I will keep the opera browser app in mind if I don't get a solution from them. Thank you so much for your help. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions. (btw, I left a positive review at HSN and watched the latest video. Learned even more about the PE.)
