I wish my local library was a bit more like pleasant bookstore. Like Wendy, I enjoy browsing a well-chosen selection of books in a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, I find the prices prohibitive and buy books online, after attempting fruitlessly to request what I'm looking for from the library.

More to the point of this thread, the government should realise that protectionism is destroying the Australian book market by driving those of us who love to read to buy anywhere but locally. Lift the artificial restrictions!

And if they truly want to improve literacy and bring books to the masses, they could also improve libraries.
