Great thread, Kenny. I'd definitely say I was an extrovert, but I have huge introverted tendencies. When I'm out, I'm completely extroverted, but when I'm home, I'm completely introverted. Plus, I've always been drawn to the introvert in the room; the person that's sitting by themselves lost in thought. That's always the person that interests me most.

When I first moved out of my parent's house 2 decades ago, one of my roommates asked if he could tag along when I was on my way out to a club that I frequented. While we were there I chatted with acquaintances and introduced him to many of the regulars. Later that night, when we got back home, he said,"I have never known anyone that knew as many people in one place as you do." I replied,"Yeah, but how often do you hear my phone ring?" He thought about it for a second and with a look of amazement replied, "Never." I replied, "Exactly!"

I have always been an extremely extroverted loner. I thrive in hugely social environments, but I absolutely need the balance of quiet and solitude in my home. I need both to feel balanced.

You will note at the ongoing Party that is occasionally talked about in The Lounge and which occurs at my Chateau Pompette (last Tuesday) that I am the MC, host and barman. The key to those roles is that they involve planning and formality and busywork that, alas, pulls me away from the heady business of actual socialising. This is not an unfortunate side effect, but a result of wily intent.

I'm late to the party, as usual. I've been hiding in the corner, thinking..... (Well, plus I didn't see the thread till yesterday). Looks like I'm fairly middle of the road, except for the Introverted part of me.

Thank you! And I'm great with perfect strangers -- waitresses, dentists, bus drivers ..... I just can't talk to people who I will continue to see/know. Like, where I have to go beyond "how's the weather"!

Well yes, unless they came from Mandelbrot's fertile brain. Err, equation. Then, the closer you look, the longer the coastline gets. Do you measure England's coastline (or better yet, Australia's) on a 12" globe? Or on a 1 inch to 100 km map? Or use a tape measure, on your knees, on the actual island? Or using an electro microscope, at the grain of sand and then the sub-atomic level? The coastline gets longer depending on how closely you look and where you round off your numbers. (See, I learned from the articles about Mandelbrot's recent death. Cool stuff, that!)
