Thanks, but ... audiobooks.com is not cooperating. When I enter the code sent by Dreamscape, audiobooks.com wants me to enter my name, email, etc. But whatever password I enter (the one from a closed account or a new one), audiobooks.com tells me my email already exists in their system. Duh, I know.

If I log in first, audiobooks.com wants me to reactivate my account for $15/month. Even if I put the Dreamscape book in my cart first, I can't enter the promo code with reactivating the account.

I suppose I could use a different email, but I'm too annoyed to bother.

Once you're logged in try going back to the home page. It should keep you logged in without the spending. Then try to redeem your freebie.

Thanks, but I'm just going to skip it. I tried a variety of ways yesterday; logging in and out and trying from different pages. I don't know if I tried either of these ways, but I've had it with them; getting a free book shouldn't be this difficult. From what I recall about audiobooks.com, actually downloading a book is a hassle too, so I am waving the white flag.

I already have a copy of Persuasion with a different narrator, and there's always the library.

I'm quite inexperienced at audiobooks, but on the way to other things at Kobo US, I noticed that the audiobook for The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, which is the excellent first book in Alan Bradley's Flavia de Luce historical mystery series, is only $3.99, and that it's discountable. So with my VIP discount, and the discount code "Partners22", it's only $2.15. The audiobook says it's unabridged, and narrated by Jayne Entwistle (???).

Are there any issues I should watch out for on this. (I did buy some abridged audiobooks many years back, without realizing it, but this one definitely says it's unabridged...) Is this sort of pricing typical, or did I just stumble on the one book out of gazillions, or something?

Anyway, I liked the book when I read it, years ago, enough to listen to it again, if there's nothing "too good to be true" about this...
