I am deliriously happy! I just came back from a three-day week-end with my parents, and I was half expecting a window-sill disaster. I very hastily set up an irrigation system before I left on Friday morning, and apparently it worked. Not only are my plants healthy, but the rocket has grown like crazy, and there are now tiny little tomatoes

The only thing that worries me a little is that all my plastic bottle are empty. I'm going to need a whole lot more when I leave for a 2-week holiday

I think my banana peppers are pretty much history, but I got enough for at least two jars of peppers, and the jalapeños are still doing well. We're starting to get some pretty good tomatoes now. Looks like the birds have eaten all the corn. There was a whole flock of them this morning feasting on it.

my corn never did sprout ;o( I think it drowned. I'm about to go slaughter more tansy and I think I am going to mix up a bunch of seeds the cats knocked over and just throw them in that area. it used to be my breaking pen, but a bunch of boards got knocked down. it's been heavily fertilized by the horses. it should be interesting to see what happens there!

Brilliant irrigation solution. But for 2 weeks you'll need someone coming in every few days to refill the bottles - or could a neighbor turn a hose on your window sill?

It is winter here and stormy. Our ponds are just about overflowing (that's okay, the water has a planned runoff) and the road out of here is flooded (also okay, we don't need to use it today). The garden is basically asleep. There are a winter greens growing in the conservatory in pots. It doesn't get below freezing here in winter except for a couple of frosty mornings, but it does get very wet.

That system will work for a short time, but you need to get the water to drip, rather than flow......
