I've not read this book, The Silence of the Girls, by Pat Barker, but it seems pretty intriguing - the story of the Trojan war told from the point of view of the women involved, and per the blurb, specially from the point of view of the Trojan queen, Briseis. It also comes pretty well recommended as a Washington Post Notable Book, shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award, a finalist for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and one of the Best Books of the Year per NPR, The Economist, and the Financial Times. And it's on sale today for $2.99 as part of the US Kindle Daily Deal.

His last ovel, it's a break from the usual Steinbeck, it's about a New England shopkeeper. I read it decades ago. Memories are hazy, but I remember really enjoying it.

Long Island is in Downstate New York. New York State abuts but is not located in New England, which comprises six states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

FYI, "Long Island, New York" (typed with quotation marks, as the moniker also applies to several barrier islands) actually comprises four counties. They are (listed from East to West): Suffolk, Nassau, Queens (which is coextensive with the New York City borough called "Queensborough"), and Kings (aka Brooklyn, which is coextensive with the New York City borough called "Kingsborough").
