They do have nasties on site out there. Unfortunately the one that did it was the managing director who happens to be there this week. If I kill her, I will have to go up there and sell the business which would be a whole new world of trouble. We have to think of a non-lethal punishment in that I still keep my job!

Well got a new computer....tried two different pci wireless network cards to no avail. ended up with a usb wireless card which seems to work but now can't get the damn thing to see other computer or them to see it!!

I went through that last week with 3 x different versions of windows. I half fixed it but XP and 7 still cannot see each other. And vista can see both!

In vista and XP you can rename the network to be the same as each other. that helped one of my computers see another one!

Maybe when you work it out, you can fix mine.

I knew someone was doing this.....I haven't got it to work yet...

New comp is win7 - 64, old comp is xp pro and a netbook xp-pro...

both comps can see the netbook drives. netbook can't see anything and the

desktop xp can see the win7 and vice versa, but can't open folders/see files...

AIIIEEEE!!!

And I'm up in the middle of the night with a work-related production application release!

Good luck. You seem to have gotten 7 and xp to see something of each other. Try renaming the network in XP to (workgroups) I think it is in 7. In my XP PC it was called "MS home". For some reason changing the name allowed the XP computer to see the vista laptop and vice versa.
XP PC still cannot see 7 PC. I think they just hate each other. When 7 PC uses the internet it does not share with XP PC and hogs all the bandwidth. I think it tells the router that XP PC does not exist so therefore does not need any bandwidth. vista laptop seems to be able to share with both.

Next step upgrade XP PC to 7. me no likey upgrades.

I believe it does, at least that is one of my assumptions going into this.

Unfortunately the computer is trash....it spontaneously rebooted several times as I was installing stuff and at least twice came up and said "no operating system!" I've got it packed up and am returning it within the hour.
I think I'll keep the monitor and we'll see what they say but probably will just insist on my money back instead of exchange.

And I got a grand total of about one hour of sleep last night due to Work/support issues so they best not make me mad....

Be careful. A shorted monitor could have fried the PC.

Just fired up the replacement....so far so good. It's always easier (and faster) the second time.
