I treat all such freebies as free stuff from anonymous benefactors and refuse to allow it to guilt-trip me into giving. When I give, it's to who I want to give, not to who has sent trinkets in the hopes of obtaining a return. What drives me a bit mad -- although in truth I just shake my head and laugh -- is those charities who send follow-ups under the heading, "Did you receive the [POC] we sent?" Some even send "2nd Notice" warnings, as if it were a debt owed. They normally go straight to the bottom of the pile, or better yet -- the round file.
