I've found something else I don't really like about the Oasis
Once the cover is attached the back isn't flush Why couldn't they have the cover be flush or, you know, cover the whole of the back?

I'm happy that that is that what the rules state; however that doesn't mean they are followed 100%[1]. I have bought products from US sellers, since the date of those regs, that say they're "leather" but aren't. It's also unclear to me whether those regs (for luggage, handbags, wallets, belts and shoes, and "similar articles") apply explicitly to ereader covers.

I get that an unqualified "leather" SHOULD always mean animal leather. I just don't agree that, in practice, it does. I'm looking for any clarification from an Amazon source that the Oasis cover is cowhide.

I don't know that I've ever seen a percentage declaration label on this sort of product - just "PU leather" or the like.

I could always extend the battery life of my PW by taping a rectangular battery pack to the back of the device, I have a 5000mAh one that's less than 1cm thick, should do the trick nicely and bonus, it gives a wedge too and will improve weight distribution for easier holding

Who is this "we" you speak of.

If it was the same price as the Voyage, I would pick the Voyage. If it was $129, I would still pick the Voyage first. The Oasis doesn't have anything I need/want (without significant tradeoffs).

I'm betting someone messed up in typing up the specs since the screen should ideally be Carta eink or something to that effect, OS should be Android at a minimum, preferably a version number, and I really doubt that there's only 1gb of storage available for books.

e-ink Kindles don't run Android, or anything like it: they run a Linux distribution of Amazon's own devising. (It's changed quite a lot over the years: e.g. display output has gone from using the now-expired libdirectfb to using X with a custom video driver and the Awesome window manager with a mass of custom Lua scripting to raise and lower windows at the right times.)

I completely agree. I don't find it aesthetically pleasing in any respect.

US$309.99 + 10% GST = US$340.99. = AU$441.22 Not too far off $449.

At $449 Australian dollars I am sincerely glad that I too find it completely unappealing.

I think I'll wait until the Voyage 2 - if there ever is one.

I won't say that there is no USB port on the cover but I've checked several videos and I can confirm that there is none at the top or the bottom of the cover which only leaves the inside of the wedge where the connectors are. I couldn't see any good angles of that but surely if there was a USB port all of the videos would have pointed that out.

Oh I finally found a video. None on the inside edge either. There is officially no USB port on the cover.
