the purchase on these is going to have to wait a bit. I'll just have to wear my Danner Acadia's, 5.11 pants, and a leather jacket until I actually start getting paid.

On a side not, I'm going to be spotty for a few weeks on checking my email, forums, and whatnot. I've got to figure a few things out and I'm going to avoid these distractions for a while.

Bloody Amazon, firmware updates and DRM!

I was happy buying from Amazon, instead of Fictionwise, now that Fictionwise has such a small selection. OK, Mobipocket isn't a great format, but it was simple to strip the DRM, and the reading software is good. And if neceesary, it's quite simple to convert to some other format.

And now Amazon have changed the DRM on the Kindle with the 2.5.2 firmware.

I just hope someone works out how to adjust for the changes soon. As until then I won't be buying any more from Amazon.

Okay is it reeaaallllyy that hard to go back to school? It's not about filling out an application with an outrageous fee, no no no. It's about talking to 8 different people that won't talk to you until you fill out an application. Then when you fill out the application the next 8 people won't talk to you until you've been accepted.

BUT

they won't process the application w/o your transcripts. Go and get your transcripts, right? NO. Fill out an application to request your transcripts and sometime before retirement at your dead-end job they will call you and tell you they are ready. That doesn't include paying $5 per copy at the other school you went to.

And this is allllllllll before financial aid, folks. I really thought about just saying piss on school and keeping my dead-end job. Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But his kids are still young.
I've got two sisters with kids in their early teens.
They think their parents, grandmother and uncle are a maid service.

When I was a kid, the word "No" resulted in a concussion.

You sure you are not just dealing with topaz?

I'm not aware of any drm changes...

Yes, quite sure. The only file changes were to one entry in the EXTH data, and to the 30-bytes containing the DRM key. This is in the same book between the version I downloaded before my kindle updated to 2.5.2 and the version I downloaded afterwards.

The only Kindle de-drm method that currently works is only for files downloaded for use with Kindle for Windows.
