The 90% code sounds like a "we missed you" code. These normally work 2x - one time each in old and new check-out (in addition to multi-tabbing in new check-out of course).

Most likely it's because the cheaper eBook isn't allowed in the country your account is set for and the more expensive one is. I've seen that before and I believe it's a side effect of being able to change countries in your account.

At the risk of posting off topic and upsetting some, I wanted to share something that happened tonight, as I think it might be of interest to those that travel frequently.
In the past, if I wanted to buy a book not available in my region I would just change my country in my Kobo account settings and everything would work fine.
However tonight I went to buy Ken Follett's new book, which has been released in the UK. I changed my country to UK but when I went to buy it I got a message saying that due to publisher restrictions the book is not available in my region. So I started up TunnelBear (a VPN) and set it to show me as in the UK and tried again, and was able to buy the book with no problem.
So, changing the country in your settings is not always enough. I am assuming this is a new change, as I have never had it happen before.
I dont know if or how this effects coupon code use, but I suspect it may do for those codes issued for specific countries only.

So Kobo could either could tell you are actually in the US and doesnt care, or they couldnt tell and believed you were in the UK.
But they did know I am in New Zealand, despite what my country code was set as.
As for why and what it all really means, I have no idea

@Chapter One try changing your country the other way - in the purchase screen choose Edit details (or similar, it's up the top on the right side of the page) and change to UK or whichever country. You'll know if it's worked because the payment will change to pounds.

I used this method this morning and all was well.

PS this subject is on topic because it directly deals with using a voucher code. The information discussed will also no doubt help others because very many of us seem to travel.

Hi Lynx-lynx, I just tried again with the VPN turned off and it wont even let me get to the payment page.
I changed my country to UK and then searched for Ken Follett. The prices are all showing in pounds. As soon as I click on the book cover in the search results it comes up with the message.

So, I tried changing my country back to NZ, just to see if it would at least let me get to the payment page before kicking me out, but nope, still the same restrictions message.

Mmmm okay so the particular book you want is not available in NZ. Stay logged into NZ and choose abook that you know is available in both NZ and UK (maybe one of Kerry Greenwood's?) And then do the Edit ting in the purchase page and change your country to UK. Then go down and put in a code that gets accepted - but don't buy.

Then page back and refresh the screen and you should now be in the UK shop. Go to the home page and enter the search details for the book you want. It should work okay now.
