It is so good to see that my worries were baseless, and that the florid style expounded by our esteemed Potato has not spread to any other members of this noble thread.

And so, I join the throng in posting my short and succinct message indicating that I am now the winner of this thread.

I should like to assure you all that I do not require any response (congratulations, adulation, etc., etc.) to be posted in this thread, as I feel that may detract from my well-deserved victory. Instead, I'm sure you would agree, polite PMs and awards of Karma would be the most fitting way to mark the auspicious occasion of my triumph.

I find it difficult to understand how my clear and simple post announcing my victory could possibly have been misinterpreted by our noble friend, the Dragon. I wonder if the truth of the matter has been expounded correctly by the irrefutably cool oren64, and our colleague may be experiencing some loss of acuity in his hearing.

If that should turn out to be the case, I shall do my best to aid the Dragon's comprehension by speaking a little louder, and in plain and simpler terms so that I may be readily understood, even by those who are a little hard of hearing.

So, in the simplest terms possible, I'd like to announce to all my dear friends in this thread, that I, the Grand Mouse, by making this post at the end of the thread, and thus having the last post in the thread, have achieved what might seem impossible, and I have won the thread.

At the outset I am happy to see that the virus of prolixity disease has spread, I must say gradually spreading, necessarily in the esteemed group of friends which, had it not existed, on which I can not comment, would now be experiencing the other unexplainable side effects and symptoms like our dear member of nearly extinct family of flamethrower lizards has already started to feel. While I extend my deepest worries about his sudden deafness as other members have also expressed their dismay over his present physical and mental situation, I very humbly take the opportunity to preserve the win in my possession and custody, to be safely and securely transferred over to the dragon in possible near or distant future, whatever the case may be or may not be.

Dear Grand Mouse, I quite appreciate your holistic intention and I fully agree that there is an irresistible wish of the win in your fertile mind, but I'm wondering if it is the right time and the right way to achieve it.

How kind of drjd to remind me of that inimitable comedy series, Yes, Minister, written by the unforgettable Anthony Jay and Jonathon Lynn. The five stage civil service stalling technique:

1. The administration is very new and there's lots of things to be getting on with.
2. Something ought to be done, but is this the right way to achieve it?
3. This is not the right time for all sorts of reasons.
4. The policy has run into difficulties... technical, political, legal.
5. We're getting very close to the run up to the next General Election and are you sure you can get this policy through?

I'm delighted to be able to assure you all that this is the right way to achieve my objective, and this is the right time, and I see no possible difficulty, and since my term as winner is about to start, I'm sure I can get this win through.
