I was just able to use my settlement credit at Amazon on a 6 month Kindle Unlimited membership. I got $15 off the price due to being a Prime Member. I'm ecstatic!!!!

I am so happy for you. I would love to extend mine but it's not for currently subscribed members who paid in advance. Mine is good through November. Hopefully they'll have another sale for black Friday.

I'm sure they will. I was so happy that I could use a gift card balance. I just cancelled Audible from a 3 month trial then was offer two months for 99 cents a month and then I got offered a $20 Audible credit as well. Today is a good day!

That is awesome! I got $20 from them at the beginning of the year, IIRC, spent it right up on $1.99 whispersync titles! It was great!

Amazon is stupid. I was able to order a one year KU subscription when I still have a subscription from last year active. It appears the order went through, and would probably never have been applied to my KU account. I had to call to get a refund.

I just finished Out of Control by Suzanne Brockmann (5 stars) for me the story of Rose and Hank just made the book a 5 star for me. I cried at the end. The other couples are just bonus but I found it just so different from anything I've read that I just fell in love with them.

No reading for this week. I'm in meetings all week and actually had to put my Kobo up so I wouldn't be tempted. lol

Did you check your account and it didn't apply there?
I too still have a sub pre-paid until July next year. I got the 2 year one last prime day. I would not have minded to stack another one on top of that, but the small print confuses me.

So they told you you weren't eligible and so refunded your money? They shouldn't even let you order then if its not going to count.

It wasn't applied to my account, so I called to ask about it, and they confirmed my suspicions I wasn't eligible. Well, WHY DID THEY LET ME PURCHASE IT THEN?!?

Get this - the Kindle Dept told me the Seller should refund my purchase in 24 - 48 hours. So I said, wait, who is the Seller, not Amazon? To which the rep said the seller was "Amazon Digital Services".

I guess it's like at work when I order something with the wrong cost code and get yelled at because I used the wrong departmental code so the item would be charged to another department in my section. To me it all comes out of the same pot, but well, not necessarily so.

It was originally from the Thriller 2: Stories You Just Can't Put Down anthology (from MIRA). That's the version I just bought as I didn't realize it had a connected story in it. Plus I used one of my free Harlequin My Rewards codes.

She just "reprinted" it, along with two other short stories in a Kindle only collection: Secret Hideaway.

Secret Hideaway (kindle) includes:

• Secret Hideaway (originally in Sweet Dreams anthology May 2015) story from her Texas Rangers series
• On the Run (originally in Thriller 2: Stories You Just Can't Put Down anthology June 2009) story from her US Marshals series
• Cold Moonlight (originally in Thriller 3: Love is Murder anthology June 2012) story from her Black Falls

I just tagged it as #8 (rather than #7.5) because even though it's not a full-length book, the first book in the series is a novella from the days before the whole .5 numbering system became in vogue. So it goes #1 novella, #2 full-length, #3, etc so it made sense to me to keep using whole numbers. Also,
Cold Moonlight is listed as #4 at Fiction DB and on her website in the Black Falls series - again a whole number for a short story (not even novella length).

I tend to use whatever the author's website starts out with for my numbering. That's why I also use whole numbers rather than .5s for the In Death novellas. And that's why I have Nalini Singh's Rock Courtship as #2 as that's the way it was listed for well over a year on her website. And though I have gone back and renumbered a few series to make novellas/short stories x.5 in Calibre, I stopped doing so as some authors change back and I can't keep up. I'm not on Goodreads so their numbering system not matching mine doesn't bother me. They have a number of books labelled incorrectly in their data there and many that are part of series aren't even recognized as such so... The same with FictionDB and Fantastic Fiction. Plus often the numbering systems between the three of those sites don't even match.

TL;DR version #8 for the US Marshals series is a short story

Thank you. You saved me some aggravation as I was going to try to purchase like you did and see if it would go through. Well duh. Shouldn't have gone through then.

reason I was confused is because it specifies something about if you have had multiple deals on this before you are not eligible. I only had one deal, not multiple, so I was confused.

I still have a year and I will use the heck out of it. So much more in KU now than the first time I had it when they first started the program. Montlake has so much more now and so many authors have gone in, especially with series. It makes great for binge reading.

So I guess Amazon is fragmented as far as departments and one hand doesn't know what the other foot does? Allrighty then.

Don't mind being someone else's guinea pig... that is, as long as I get my $$$ back.

I make sure I read at least one KU book a month, but, I'm really stupid and keep hoarding OverDrive titles I want... it's not like they're going to go away.

Reading an older Mary Balogh novel at the moment and characters are popping up in the story that I know have their own HEA in a future novel. Confuuuuusing!
