Just installed the plugin, but the icon does on appear on the tool bar. I can go to preferences plugin and run the report from the configure plugin screen. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Try going to Preferences->Toolbar, changing the drop down to Toolbar When a Device is Connected, and then selecting the Kindle Collections icon (not Manage Collections) on the left and clicking the arrow in the middle to add it to the toolbar. This should have happened when you installed it, but there may be times it doesn't work.

Hello - I have what is probably a simple question. I have read through most of this thread and haven't been able to figure this out.
I have created collections by author. After accessing a collection it displays them at the top of the list rather than alphabetically. I did read that this is how the program was designed. How to I "reset" this list to go back to being completely alphabetical? I tried to customize collections for a do-over (I did eject and restart) but it comes back with the most recently accessed collections at the top. Thanks in advance. |

1. Are you using one of the most recent versions? I ask, because my next question won't make sense if you're using an old version. 2. Assuming you are using the current version, is the box for resetting the collections to alphabetical checked? (See attached screenshot of the customize screen.) 3. Is the time on your Kindle correct? Lots of very strange things can happen if the time is too far off. Some of those strange things make no sense whatsoever, and may not have anything to do with this, but I ask just to be safe. ![]() Edited to add: 4. Is your Kindle set to sort by Collections? |

![]() I wish I could find a way to stop people reading through the entire thread when things have changed so much since the beginning. ![]() This is how the Kindle is designed - the plugin can't control it. I believe you are using the Sort by Collections view, which the Kindle sorts by most recently accessed. So any time you open a collection it puts it at the top. You can reset it by running the Create Collections option, then ejecting, and Restarting. You can look at the Show Details button when the Create finishes to show you the collections as the Kindle would order them to avoid having to restart when you are testing. This really should reset it (unless you unchecked the reset collection times box in customize), so I'm not sure why you see them by most recent still. |

Thanks for the help, that got it working. I just installed the plugin today so it is the latest version. It must have been the time being off (4-hours) that caused the problem since the "reset collection times..." box was checked.
It's not much but I just donated £10.00. This is an extremely helpful plugin. Thanks! |

My Kindle's time occasionally gets wacky too. One time, that caused it to order my books backwards. But as an upshot, when it happened, I got to see a bunch of books I forgot I had. ![]() |

I have a simple yes or no question.
I have installed the plugin and created the collections on my K3 that are in my Calibre, using a column called, "Collection". Worked great! Question: Can I now upload a book from Calibre to my K3 and have it be placed automatically into the correct collection based on what is in the book's "Collection" field? |

A simple yes or no? It depends on what you mean by yes or no
![]() At the moment, almost. With the next release of the plugin this weekend, yes-ish. If you just use Send to Device for a book, then no, your book will not go into a collection automatically. You must manually run Create Collections once the book is on the device. But if you use the Reading List plugin, and add the books you want to sync to the device to a list, then you can configure it to sync the books you want to the device when you connect and update the collections automatically (not working perfectly yet until the next release). |

hi ~ i have the latest version of the plugin installed in calibre and i can see the collections on my kindle 3 no problem. the problem i'm having is when i connect my kindle to calibre and then try to view the books on my device. the books show up but the entire collections column is blank. if i try to customize collections or preview collections using the kindle collections icon in my toolbar, i can see them, so why don't they show up in the collections column? these are collections created in calibre, using this plugin, not created in my kindle.
thanks for any suggestions as to how to fix this ~ and thanks for such a great plugin, it's going to be invaluable. ![]() ~ andrea |

This is a known issue in the calibre code - its on the list to be fixed when there's time.
