I am tempted, but just can't justify another Dot at this time. My bro gave up his because he had so much trouble with it (he had a stroke and can't speak clearly enough over other sounds in his room). Moved it to the kitchen and family members are beginning to love it now. I do need to do better playlists though.

I haven't done playlists yet. I was thinking about making playlists that mimicked the Beatles' US albums. I grew up with those versions as a kid and am so used to those song orders.

One thing I really like doing is playing songs from specific years (1964, 1957, 1976, etc) from both Pandora and Music Unlimited. For Pandora, I'll say play 1957 hits radio and for Music Unlimited, I'll say play songs from 1967.

Another variation is to ask Alexa to play the top songs of 1964 and she'll start playing songs in order from Billboard's Year-End List (though she does skip some songs). That's so cool.

Music Unlimited for Echo and free Pandora gets me all the music I need.

That does not look like a very secure connection. It actually looks rather rickety. I'm guessing the connector won't hold up to too much moving, especially if someone tries to pick up the Dot and battery but just grabs hold of the Dot. Unless there is a magnetic connection too, I didn't read the article just looked at the photos, I don't see that working in a situation wherein the Dot is being moved around a lot.

ETA: It does have a magnetic plate included, but it seems to be a a disk rather than being built into the top of the battery unit. Strange design. I still think it is a kluge solution.

Let's hope this battery isn't designed by Samdung, Tesla, or Boeing!

Okay I finally caved and ordered a Dot this morning. It should be here later today with free same day shipping. That's one of the few, perhaps the only, benefit to living in a large metro with 7.1 million other idiots! At any rate, I really don't need a Dot, but you can never have too many devices.

And what would the Russians do with their time if they didn't have a trillion American devices to hack and use to mess up our internet? Paint portraits of Putin shirtless on a horse?

I have $50 from a failed Prime Day gift card offer. The GC didn't arrive on the day promised and I needed it for a gift that weekend. I called to cancel it so I could get it at a local store instead. Amazon said it had already shipped. I then explained my situation; so they issued a refund and said I could keep the card and use it if it ever arrived. It finally did so, over a week late. I used the free $10 credit from that promo to buy an Echo remote.

I also have a $10 credit because I called Amazon last week asking when they planned to add Music Unlimited to the Fire Phone. They said they'd pass it along and issued a $10 credit because of the inconvenience of my not having it. I'm not holding my breath on this one since Amazon has pretty much given up on properly upgrading the phone.

They did the same thing when I inquired about adding Prime Music to the Fire Phone two years ago. I got a $10 credit at that time too.

Anyway, that's how I got $60 from Amazon.

Not for nothing*, but whenever I'm dealing with a customer service rep from any company, and at the end of the conversation they say "Is there anything else I can do for you?" I always say "Got any free money for me?"
Most often, I get a laugh, which is nice enough, but a surprisingly high percentage of the time, I get something like free money. The phone company just gave me a $15 "loyalty credit" this week because I asked.
With Amazon, it yields results an embarrassingly high percentage of the time.

So how can you get $60 of free Amazon money? One way is to ask for it....
