Hi all.

I just dug out my Kobo Wireless N647 and think I disconnected the USB while it was in the middle of something. It now starts, loads six blocks on the boot screen and hangs.

If I hold down menu + power it loads the USB screen and a .kobo_upgrade screen pops up on the computer (Win10)

Would it be possible to get an image for the N647 that I could load through the USB updater? Failing that, I can do the SD card route if needed.

I don't know what the current image is on the reader, but I don't recall getting updates (never really used the USB feature, calibre seemed a little smoother).

The image is a replacement image for the internal SD card. You need to take it out and write the image to the card. But, it is possible a factory reset will fix your device, though I don't know how to do that for a WiFi. It should be in the forum somewhere.

Thanks very much. I tried the various button combinations, but no luck getting into the factory reset.

I suspect it was writing to the internal memory when I disconnected the USB and corrupted the image. Dumb mistake, I've been spoilt by high speed USB. I'll re-image the card and give it a shot.

Got the image okay but the micro SD card wouldn't write. I tried another one I had kicking around and it loaded up fine and booted. Did a factory reset and now it's working great.

@nuggets: Which Kobo WiFi do you have, N647, N647B, or N289? They are different hardware and need different images.

I'm trying to revive my old N647 which is stuck at the boot screen. If someone could provide me an sd image it would be greatly appreciated.
