I'm on the Plus plan and I'm able to download audiobooks from the catalog to my devices, just as I normally do with the audiobooks I own. Everything works the same. If you get the Premium Plus subscription, the mechanics will still be the same.

Right now, I'm listening to 14 Audible audiobooks, 13 from the Plus catalog and one I own. And all of them are downloaded to my phone in the Audible app.

Summer camp is a traditional teenage rite of passage, but when you add supernatural powers to the typically high dosage of adolescent hormones - you get an even more combustible mix. Author's note: This is book 1 in a YA duology. As with all my YA trilogies, this first book ends in a cliff-hanger. Book 2, Wolf's Curse, comes out in March.

It was on post #9642 (by ngrant), who mentioned this. Also, I think I read this when they were advertising that special price of $1.99 (?)

So, due to being unable to download, I cancelled my subscription. I can still renew, but the price is no longer that cheap price.

Perhaps the whole thing is that one does not OWN the audiobook. It can be downloaded to listen to, but it cannot be kep on a computer as one's own purchase. (???)

Plus catalog items can be downloaded on a mobile device for off-line listening in the Audible app, in the AAXC format.

They cannot be downloaded on the desktop in the AAX format

This is exactly right. Just like audiobooks borrowed from the library, you can "download" the files from Scribd or Audible Plus to a device for listening offline but you do not OWN the audiobook. If you cancel your subscription, the files will be inaccessible since the device will need to validate the subscription in order to play. I haven't had any problem with either Scribd or Audible Plus in this regard. Love both services!

As it stands, I can upgrade right now for $7.00 for the first month (and get one credit, I presume), and after that it's $14.95 each month. (Is that a good deal?)

To specifically answer your question: I could have streamed it for free, or I could have bought it. I decided to buy it. I have Audible.US, which works fine with my card, probably due to the fact that I use my sister's address.

Are you in any hurry to subscribe to the Premium Plus plan? and have you already used your free trial offer of 1 free credit (2 free credits for Prime members)?

As to the $7 offer, there have been better deals, sometimes as low as $2~$4/mo for several months. That's why I asked if you were in a hurry to sign up. You may wish to wait and see if a better deal comes along. Prime Day is coming soon. It's usually the 2nd week in Jul, but last year, it was the 3rd week in June. Expect to see a good deal for Audible.

I have not used any credits, but only because I never had any credits. The Plus plan (if I am correct: that special $1.99 price), never offered any credits - just a really nice price. I did, however 'borrow' on audiobook on that plan, but promptly returned it when I discovered those issues I mentioned earlier.

Based upon what you're telling me, I believe I'll simply wait until April 20 (when my plan officially ends), and see if they offer me an inducement (read: better upgrade plan) to join the Premium Plus plan.
