NON-FICTION ALERT!

Boozehound: On the Trail of the Rare, the Obscure, and the Overrated in Spirits A great book that deserves all the rave reviews - even folks who don't drink might like it for the author's style. |

Started ShadowKeep by Alan Dean Foster. Meh. I may have read it when I was younger--and probably had more patience for it then. I found myself skimming by page 30...I don't think I'll finish it. It's an okay adventure, but 35 to 40 pages to get the guy on a horse and started on his adventure ... well, no one has even DIED yet; it's all heresy about the great dangers and threats and how bad it could get. Really, I'm not a violent person except within the pages of a book... :>) |

Next, another new purchase, Shadowmagic by John Lenahan, for the low price of £0.49. Now that's the way to get me to buy the first book in a series. So far so good - it's looking like a fun read.

I think that I will start on "The Kingkiller Chronicles" next, seeing the great reviews that it has received here so far.

The sequel was hard to find -- I had to search on the author name--looks like it just went up and isn't quite stable because the cover isn't showing up. Good YA, but also adult, adventure, mayhem, good story/plotting.

So next up: The Prince of Hazel and Oak The UK price is a little higher — £1.99. (£1.66+VAT, so about $2.65+VAT) But that's still very reasonable, at about half the (discounted) price of the paperback. "The Friday Project" seems to be an imprint of one of the big publishers that's experimenting with low-priced ebooks along with normal paperback and hardback releases. I'm impressed.

If A Game of Thrones is any indication of the pace the series is progressing, than I'm not sure if I'm interested to continue after the first book. Extremely many names and places to remember. I must admit that I like Elisabeth Moon's fantasy books better.
