With two weeks having passed by since the last one, Alexander Street has a new classical music freebie today also.

It is Harold en italie by Hector Berlioz:
This week's download features Hector Berlioz's (1803–1869) second symphony Harold en Italie, written in 1834 on a commission from Niccolò Paganini. This recording is performed by the violist Bruno Pasquier with the Orchestre philharmonique régional Montepellier Languedoc Roussillon under the direction of Cyril Diederich.

FREE Anthropology Journal Issues from Wiley Online Library.
Do they belong on the ebook thread or the media thread? I'm going to say that these items are closer to non-ebook media than ebooks.

They are very esoteric and specialized, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there is someone who will find them helpful.

Wiley Online Library, for what I assume is a limited time, is offering free sample issues of all of the anthropology journals that it publishes (I'm estimating about 50) here.

It appears that these journals often have some free or open access articles in each issue. Some, but not all. What's different now is it appears that Wiley is offering a large number of entire issues for free. I don't mean just where you can read them on your computer, but a downable (PDF) type of free. Unfortunately, it looks like you may have to download each article separately in order to get a complete issue. But I could be wrong; to be honest, I just haven't explored this all that thoroughly. Frankly, except for some narrow topics, I personally don't have an interest in anthropology.

YourClassical's free download of the day is one from Antonio Vivaldi and is part of a work (really, several works) that stands out, in my mind at least, as his most famous and most popular. It is from The Four Seasons, and the particular piece that we can get free today is Winter: I. Allegro non molto.

This 3 minute, 25 second piece is performed by The New York Philharmonic. Frank Huang is the conductor. The name "Alan Gilbert" is prominently displayed along with "The New York Philharmonic" on the album cover, but I can't figure out his role.

Today's free piece comes from an album that is not a Naxos album, apparently! That's very rare. It apparently comes from a company called Classical Live. If you click on the link that usually takes you to a webpage that has a link to a Naxos webpage telling about the album, that link instead sends you to a Google Play webpage. That link is the one that says, "Classical Live."

On the same Your Classical webpage, you will see a link that says "Direct MP3 download link." Clicking on it will automatically download the piece to your hard drive (or whatever your default drive is).
