I second the recommendation for A Drop of Corruption (on the strength of A Tainted Cup).
Most people describe it as Holmesian, but it's actually based on Nero Wolfe, with an eccentric detective who usually stays in one place while the protagonist does all the footwork.

This is a mystery series in a fantasy setting, with a Nero Wolfe-like detective who usually stays in one place, while the protagoist does all the footwork.

It's super popular at the moment, and won the Hugo. I also liked it FWIW.
I beat you to it!

Personally, I like to buy at Kobo before they drop the price to match the Amazon price, so that I get the SuperPoints for the higher price, and I get that extra 10% back.

I just wait for the price match to be accepted before I download. I also have a lot of in-store credit, so the money going out and back is all in Kobo store credit, not on debit or credit card.

Ha! I'll edit mine to just have the comments.
And I agree the discount is juicy, but I'm hesitant to do that with books that have a high price. OK I'll go for it.

LOL. I refreshed the page to verify the price, was filling the price match form prior to purchase, and when I went to check out it the price dropped

In the UK we have a legal right to return the purchase within (IIRC) 14 days. This is obviously simpler if it hasn't been downloaded (although that doesn't technically affect our right to return).

I've been buying for 7 months so far, and I haven't had any problems with price matching even expensive books.

[EDIT: And I've just received a refund of £14.10 for the price match, making the net cost £0.89]

Apparently I got the prior ebook when it was cheap on Amazon. It was was 99p on Kobo UK and no reduction on Kobo Ireland this morning (About €9!).

I've still not read the 1st book, so the 2nd is slight risk.

I traveled to the UK to buy it and Kobo would not accept Am Ex. I have always been able to use my Am Ex card in the UK. The message said that Am Ex Cards are not being accepted in the UK at this time. I used a Mastercard that used to not work outside the US, and it was accepted.

I know the pbook was published in 2006 since I purchased it back then. Then it ended up on my books that I would love to find in ebook list a few years later where it languished for 16 years.
