Battery percentage and night reading

I'm really enjoying reading on my Kobo Aura One but I have a couple of questions.

The first is whether I can set the battery indicator in the top right corner to show a percentage figure rather than a black/white rectangle.

The second is whether there is a 'white on black' nighttime reading option.

I also wonder what the 'bedtime' setting is for. Mine is set at 11pm but nothing much seems to happen when that time is reached.

I dont think you can do those adjustments 1 and 2 Dodman but i can answer three

The bedtime setting affects the nightlight and sets the time towards which the inbuilt light changes its colour temperature from blue to reddish

Ah, thank you for that. I'll look out for it. I'm still adjusting the lights for the best nighttime experience as 'auto' is a bit bright.

Thanks. It looks like this is still a 'work in progress' for the Aura One.

Koreader has night mode that works by simple inversion of pixel values, so it works on all devices that run koreader.

That auto-light sensor feature is so broken, I wonder if its just a software fault or its just a dodgy sensor? :S

I expect night mode to work on the Aura One. The only problem might be to switch it on and off without using fmon, Kute File Monitor, or KSM. Cf. this post for some details.

I think I'll have to wait awhile for that:

https://github.com/koreader/koreader/issues/2235

It's not critical, as I find reading with the night light quite soothing, but having used white on black for nighttime reading on my iPad, I would like to have the same option.

It looks like it might be a bit fiddly, to both instal and to use.

Everything is working so well at the moment I'm not sure I want to risk upsetting the equilibrium for a feature I would like but that isn't essential. Maybe later when I'm more confident with what I'm doing.

Thanks for pointing this out, though. It's wonderful that Kobo ereaders are so optimisable.

I think you don't understand github issues, as you linked closed issue. Which means, that issue is closed, i.e. solved. Which is also obvious if you read through linked issue.

If I remember well, koreader from build 622 supports KA1 fully, or it may be even earlier build. At the moment of this post we are at build 743, that you can found here: http://build.koreader.rocks/download/nightly/

So, if you download latest koreader, KA1 is fully supported.

Completely different thing is if you want to use koreader. I myself don't use nickel and use koreader exclusively, so I completely understand that different people have different preferences.

You're right. I just saw the heading - Kobo Aura One is not supported - and took it at face value, rather than reading further.

Thanks for clarifying this. I may try Koreader out.

I've seen the same problem. Late reply, but here's a simple solution that works for me and nobody mentioned. In Calibre, when I generate KEPUB format, I set margins to zero. This eliminates the problem. I find I can always apply margins on the Kobo, no need for the book to set its own.
