And lastly, I really think that application is highly annoying, as it continually pops up messages to get me to get W10. And I don't want it, based on what I've seen and heard so far. Add an option , let me think on it and stay out of site for at least 6 months, it would have been different. |

Neither do mine.
I have two PC's registered for upgrade and the little icon just sits there. In both cases I had to uninstall the upgrade and reinstall it to get it to show the icon (about 24 hours later) all it does is sit there unobtrusively. Both my systems are running OEM Windows but I don't see where it would make a difference from the retail version. |

You can store it anyway you want; thumbdrive, SD card, online cloud, whatever floats your boat... The whole idea is to grab the update while the grabbing is good and go on with your life until you're ready to upgrade, be it days or months later. |

I broke down an upgraded my all in one desktop machine that was running windows 8.1. And I have to say it ran 8.1 very poorly. I am now running windows 10 preview build 10162 and I love it. After it installed I did a disk clean up and optimization and my system is running so much faster. And Yes I did run disk cleanup and optimization on the windows 8.1 any number of times without any improvements. With 8.1 my disk was always running at 50 to 100%. With 10 it I see my disk go all the way down to 0 most of the times. Seems like 10 has fixed the issues with my disk always running at a high percentage.

It was continually showing "Get Windows 10!" when I went to the apps page of the start screen. And it would again pop up after I did a reset.

And with the current setup where the update will be staggered, there is absolutely no reason at all to sign up now and get the update the 29th. Because you won't. |

Could be, but don't you also own a Surface Pro? (I managed to skip the install on my SP2, so I don't know if that one had the same problem). On my Windows 7 installation I won't get the update at all (and it being the only PC I would like to upgrade at this point

I'm running Windows 8.1 and don't have a "Get Windows 10" popup. I rarely go to the Start Screen or the App pages so I went, skipped around, poked around, and got no popups.
I'm looking forward to Windows 10. I stayed with Windows 7 until Windows 8.1 was out and working and then I switched and didn't regret it. I do realize there are some for whom new is a nasty word. |

Unintuitive design principles are a nasty word/phrase though. ![]() I went through similar horror when Ubuntu "evolved" towards Unity, a Mac interface clone with all the attendant inflexibility. I think there's a recent trend for designers to ruin their products in an ill-designed attempt to appeal to the latest, um, something. ![]() New is not fundamentally better -- the two concepts are orthogonal. |

I am running windows 10 on two of my systems and I am really beginning to like it. I have beta tested most of the windows versions from the beginning. And windows 7 and now windows 10 are the ones that I have really liked from the beginning.

Hmm. Microsoft is renaming their music service yet again:
http://www.cnet.com/news/microsofts-...ng-windows-10/ Now it will be called Groove. The new app will roll out with the next win10 build. They are reserving the XBOX brand for games only. Last edited by fjtorres; 07-09-2015 at 08:18 AM. |

I'll be creating a virtual machine with Windows 10 as soon as I can (with the new visual studio too). Nothing wrong with new things, unless it disrupts my normal work flow. Which is why I still am developing on Windows 7: the start page of Windows 8 is too disruptive for me. I still can't work comfortably with it. Even though I two tablets running Windows 8.1 (and on one of those I have Visual Studio installed which get used regularly)
